Undoubtedly one of the most important days in the Pokémon franchise’s calendar is Pokémon Day, and the 2025 celebrations are rapidly approaching. Although the details of some of the day’s celebrations have already been confirmed, Pokémon Day 2025 will undoubtedly have some surprises in store as well. Nevertheless, it is already clear that the event is one to look forward to.
Naturally, there are some predictions for Pokémon Day 2025 that are highly likely to prove accurate, simply by the nature of the event, such as new content for the franchise’s various spin-off games. These are very similar to the expectations that Pokémon Day 2024 faced. However, it is equally likely that there will be some major new reveals coming this year, as befitting the day’s importance. Furthermore, some exciting new reveals and events have already been announced for various aspects of the wider franchise, further heightening anticipation for the day itself.
Pokémon Day 2025 Is On February 27 2025
The Date Marks The Very Beginning Of The Franchise

Pokémon Day 2025 keeps to the annual event’s traditional date of February 27, the anniversary of the original Pokémon Red and Green games being released in Japan in 1996. While the majority of fans today may never have played these games, February 27 is still undeniably the most important date in the franchise’s history because of this. As such, it is the natural choice for the yearly celebration of everything that Pokémon has to offer.
Pokémon debuted in the West two years after Japan, with Pokémon Red and Blue releasing on September 28 1998 in the US.
Of course, a new Pokémon Presents video presentation is expected to form the focal point of the day’s events, although this has yet to be officially announced. However, given the example set by Pokémon Day 2024, it is presumably only a matter of time before a schedule is formally revealed. It is worth noting that 2024’s Pokémon Presents was announced on February 20th, a week beforehand, and this year’s own presentation may well follow the same pattern.
What's Confirmed For Pokémon Day 2025 (So Far)
Several Events Are Already Taking Place As Pokémon Day Approaches

Although the biggest announcements for Pokémon Day 2024 will only emerge on the day itself, several games are already set to receive new content to coincide with the event. For example, there is an ongoing distribution event for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, which offers an Eevee with the Flying Tera Type to visitors of various outlets in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Similarly, Pokémon GO will soon be releasing Black and White Kyurem in GO Tour: Unova, with the global portion of the in-game event occurring just after Pokémon Day on March 1 and 2.

Although not officially announced, it is also worth noting that datamining indicates a new Pokémon TCG Pocket set will be released on February 28. The timing of this is highly unlikely to be coincidental, and this anticipated mini-set may in fact be one of the announcements scheduled for the day itself. Considering that 2025 has previously been announced to be Pokémon’s “Year of Eevee”, a theme clearly carried by the ongoing Eevee distribution, the Evolution Pokémon may also be the focus of this new set, although this is only speculation at present.
The Next Pokémon Game Would Be A Perfect Big Reveal
Although there has been no official indication of what role the next Pokémon game may play in Pokémon Day 2025, it does seem likely that a new trailer for Pokémon Legends: Z-A will be released at the very least. The anniversary of the game’s initial announcement would be an excellent time for a follow-up providing further details, especially considering that this would be a perfect central announcement for Pokémon Day. If a new trailer is released, it will most likely include the first in-game footage of Legends: Z-A, and may even give a release date.
It is already strongly believed that Pokémon Legends: Z-A will release at some point in 2025. As such, revealing the precise date on Pokémon Day would be the perfect way to heighten excitement and interest in the upcoming title. Although not confirmed by The Pokémon Company, this announcement seems nearly guaranteed considering the circumstances. Furthermore, the day could also bring the first details of the future Generation 10 core games, although this does seem somewhat less likely.

Summary
Spanning over twenty-five years, Pokemon, known as Pocket Monsters in Japan, is the multimedia franchise created jointly by Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures. Conceptualized by Satoshi Tajiri in association with Ken Sugimori and Junichi Masuda, Pokemon is set in fictional worlds where people live together with tamable creatures known as Pokemon. Humans who catch, raise, and battle the creatures are known as Pokemon Trainers. They head out on extensive journeys across their continents to raise their Pokemon with the ultimate goal of competing in tournaments to become the champion. Pokemon spans several massive properties, from a long-running animated series to a successful trading card game, to the medium that started it all, video games. In addition, Pokemon began the "two-game" trend where two versions of a game would release and include different Pokemon/features between the versions, encouraging players to meet up with others and trade so they could "catch 'em all."
