Isla Fisher has spoken about her surprise career aspiration before she became a Hollywood star.
Appearing on the US Today show, the Australian actress, 49, recalled her time at a prestigious clown school in Paris.
The Confessions of a Shopaholic star was a student at the school at the age of 21 after appearing on Home And Away.
Promoting her new animated movie Dog Man, she told hosts Craig Melvin, Al Roker and Dylan Dreyer she studied the craft for two years.
'I went to clown school. I studied for two years in Paris. I just always wanted to be a clown. I had this fantasy of joining this comedy troupe that is in comedy bouffon and mime,' she explained.
'That was always my dream and I've obviously used some of the physical comedy in my comedies. Yeah, I love clowns.'

During the interview, Isla repped Aussie designer Rebecca Valance, wearing the Adalyn Off The Shoulder Midi Dress.
The olive colour of the frock looked stunning with Isla's red locks and perfect complexion.
She teamed the ensemble with tan suede stilettos and gold jewels.
This is not the first time Isla has spoken about going to clown school.
Appearing on Nova's Fitzy and Wippa in 2022 to talk about her Stan show, Wolf Like Me, Isla recalled some embarrassing moments from that time.
'I can't show off that I went to NIDA,' she said, in reference to the prestigious acting institute in Sydney - the National Institute of Dramatic Art.
'But I did go to clown school where I was mocked and made to run in front of the whole class while everyone laugh because my running technique was such an embarrassment.

'So to do this show [Wolf Like Me], I got this special lady in who like filmed me running and showed me just how foolish it was and we broke it all down so I did a little running practice.'
She also spoke about her experience while appearing on The Project back in 2016, and said she struggled to learn the art of juggling.
'I'd say that juggling was certainly not my specialty. I was one of the last people in the whole class to really be able to get three balls in the air,' she explained while quickly noting, 'That's not a euphemism.'
Since graduating from the school, Isla has gone on to star in a series of notable Hollywood blockbusters, including Wedding Crashers, which catapulted her to international fame in 2005.
