Warning: There are spoilers ahead for From season 4, episode 6, "The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter."The red door revealed in From season 4, episode 6, "The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter" has major implications for the show's future. In the previous episode, Jade Herrera (David Alpay) is on a hallucinogenic mushroom trip that shows him the door in the Colony House basement.

Opening the door in his vision takes Jade to the tunnel where From's nocturnal monsters sleep during the day and they then traps him inside a grave with one of the dead children, who says, "Anghkooey." This leads Jade to believe that the children's bones are in the caves and that going in there and removing them is a crucial step to finally escaping the Township and getting home.

Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau) is not convinced, nor is he willing to risk taking others down into the tunnels based on nothing but a mushroom-induced hunch. Jade realizes that the red door can serve as proof of the visions' legitimacy, as he has never been in the Colony House basement or heard of a door being there. The only problem is that when he goes down there with Boyd, there appears to be no such door.

However, at the end of the episode, after Donna Raines (Elizabeth Saunders) nearly dies of a heart attack and with Boyd desperate for a solution, he goes back down to the basement and takes a sledgehammer to the wall. This eventually reveals that the red door from Jade's was hidden behind the wall, and this discovery changes the trajectory of From season 4.

The Door Suggests That Jade Is Right About The Children's Bones

Now that it's been confirmed that the door is real, it seems much more likely that Jade is correct about the children's bones being in the caves and that they need to be removed from there. Jade's visions revealed answers about his past lives in the Township and how they always end in failure and tragedy, but they may have also offered a solution connected to his revelation about the children's bones.

For the first time in a long while, there is hope and tangible steps that can be pursued to take action against the Township's evil forces and escape. This is especially important after Donna nearly dies and From's terrifying new monsters confirm that the nightmares of the deceased become a reality. Depending on what the plan is, it could unite the characters in a way that hasn't been seen since putting together the radio tower in season 1.

Now, Boyd and Jade need to figure out what this plan actually looks like. The caves are an incredibly dangerous place, and going in there, directly into the monsters' lair, can easily become a death sentence for all who enter. If the bones are as important as Jade believes them to be, they will probably be closely guarded too. There is also the matter of how the door can fit into their plan now that it is confirmed to be real.

Colony House's Direct Connection To The Tunnels Has Chilling Implications

Just as Jade does in his vision, the plan may involve opening the door and getting to the tunnels from there. This is a terrifying prospect, though, as opening direct access could put everyone in Colony House in danger and not just those who go down into the tunnels. Enough lives are already going to be put at risk by those who dare to go down there.

Beyond the plan, the fact that there is such a direct connection between Colony House and the tunnels is disturbing in its own right. Despite the talismans and Donna's leadership, Colony House feels more vulnerable now that there is seemingly a direct passageway between it and where the monsters reside. This raises questions about how the passageway has been used in the past and why the door was concealed behind a wall in the first place.

The door offers both hope and frightening new implications. What Boyd, Jade, and the other characters decide next will determine which direction the discovery ultimately goes in as From season 4 continues.
