American Idol season 22 Top 10 finalist and country singer Mia Matthews has been busy with her music career since she competed in the singing competition series in 2024. Mia, a 19-year-old from Centre, Alabama, earned her golden ticket after singing "No Place That Far" by Sara Evans. Throughout American Idol season 22, Mia sang phenomenal renditions of country hits, including "Wildflowers And Wild Horses" by Lainey Wilson; "Those Memories Of You" by Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, and Emmylou Harris; "Over You" by Miranda Lambert; and "No One Needs To Know" by Shania Twain.
When Mia auditioned for American Idol season 22, along with her sister Jacy, who made it to the Hollywood Round, they were no strangers to singing competition shows. Mia competed in The Voice season 19, with Worth the Wait, a trio which consists of her, Jacy, and their mom, Tara. All four coaches--Kelly Clarkson, Gwen Stefani, John Legend, and Blake Shelton--turned their chairs, and they made it to the Live Playoffs round with their coach, Blake. In a June 24, 2024 Instagram post, Mia listed all of her other shows, which included 19 Takeover at CMA Fest on June 9, which featured her fellow American Idol season 22 runner-up Will Moseley and finalists Jack Blocker, Emmy Russell, and Triston Harper, American Idol season 21 winner Iam Tongi and finalists Colin Stough and Haven Madison, American Idol season 20 runner-up HunterGirl, and American Idol season 18 finalist Grace Leer.
In addition, Mia performed at Franklin Summer Bash on July 20 with her fellow American Idol season 22 contestants Kayko, Kaibrienne, McKenna Faith Breinholt, Quintavious, and The Voice season 25 contestant Maddi Jane.
