Robert Eggers' newest horror movie is finally revealing itself.

A new teaser for Werwulf has been released at CinemaCon, revealing Aaron Taylor-Johnson as a werewolf in Robert Eggers' newest horror movie. The story of Werwulf takes place in 13th-century England, where villagers are terrorized by a werewolf in the countryside. The movie's dialogue will be entirely in Middle English, aligning with Eggers' approach to historically-accurate dialogue.

Now, a teaser for Werwulf has been released at Universal's CinemaCon panel. The footage begins with a man being crucified before cutting to footage teasing a "beast" terrorizing the English countryside. It then reveals a naked man transforming into a werewolf, the footage confirming it's Taylor-Johnson's character. Check out the full footage description below:

A man being crucified is shown. Cut to Aaron Taylor-Johnson's face in a close up. An Irish man says that he's found a beast that's ravaged the country and calls it a werewolf. The moon is shown as clouds begin to cover it. A naked man is then shown howling in pain as he changes slowly into a werewolf. It's Taylor-Johnson. Close-up of him screaming.

Werwulf arrives following Eggers' successful run in theaters with his remake of Nosferatu. The vampire movie earned high praise from critics, the film carrying a Certified Fresh 85% on Rotten Tomatoes. It also made $182 million against a $50 million budget, making it a financial success. Now, Eggers is back with an original idea for a werewolf movie.

The upcoming werewolf movie will see Taylor-Johnson in the leading role, with the footage confirming he'll be portraying the character who will transform into the central monster. He's joined by Lily-Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe, and Ralph Ineson in leading roles, the four reuniting after previously starring in Nosferatu together.

Additional cast members confirmed for Werwulf are Jack Morris, Jan Bijvoet, Ritchi Edwards, and Bodhi Rae Breathnach. The movie, directed by Eggers, was co-written by him and Sjón. The pair previously co-wrote Eggers' Viking epic The Northman together, another critical hit and the only non-horror movie among the director's films.

Though not much is known about the movie and its storyline, the first look footage indicates Werwulf will have a major focus on Taylor-Johnson being the core monster in the story. It's unclear if the character he portrays has control over his powers or not, but it seems like the werewolf movie will be toying with the horror of the transformation as much as the creature itself.
