Walton Goggins has boarded Universal Pictures’ reboot of a 1980s action classic.

The cast of Miami Vice ’85 has been slowly coming together over the last several months. Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler are leading the second film reboot of the original Miami Vice TV series, which ran for five seasons from 1984 to 1990 on NBC. Now word’s come in that Goggins will join those two actors in Miami Vice ’85, albeit as an enemy to the leading protagonists rather than an ally.

Deadline reports that Goggins has been cast as a villain in Miami Vice ’85, with this character potentially being one of the minions of John Leguizamo’s lead antagonist. According to the publication, director Joseph Kosinski was “high on Goggins early to play this role,” and once scheduling for season 3 of his Prime Video series Fallout was figured out, the actor signed onto the reboot. Miami Vice ’85’s cast also includes Whitney Peak, Alden Ehrenreich, Camila Morrone, and Danny Ramirez.
