Britta DeVore is a Senior Author for Collider who has been known to dabble with Reality News as well.

Have you seen stories about 'Chucky,' 'Scream,' 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer,' 'The Boys,' 'Vanderpump Rules,' or any of 'The Real Housewives' franchises? That's probably a Britta DeVore-curated piece of art, and it sounds like you have great taste.

When she isn't sitting behind her laptop bringing readers her hot takes on upcoming projects or keeping the dream alive in the Senior News team, Britta can usually be found outside hiking or inside behind her drum set. She currently plays in two bands, Kid Midnight and Watergate, both based in Brooklyn. An obsessive traveler, Britta loves long road trips to the South West and has a soft spot in her heart for canyons, rivers, and forests.

She also has a tiny cat named Athena that she loves more than anything else in the world and is always happy for new brewery recs.

What do you get when you take a handful of some of the industry’s most talented young actresses and toss them into a horror movie with comedic leanings? Well, we’d love to tell you the full answer, but you’ll just have to wait and watch Forbidden Fruits when it arrives in a cinema near you on March 27. What we can say is that you’ll get a mix of slasher combined with witchy vibes and a splash of Mean Girls-inspired comedy. On top of that description, we’re thrilled to show off a new image from the upcoming genre flick that we’re excited to share as part of Collider’s Exclusive Preview event.

In Forbidden Fruits, a group of employees at a women’s store called Free Eden are salespeople by day, but spellcasters by night when they head to the mall’s basement to engage in their witchy practice. It’s all girl power and besties forever until a new member makes her way into the sisterhood and begins to expose the cracks in the friendships, changing the dynamic forever. The ensemble cast for this one is incredibly impressive and promising, with the call sheet including Lili Reinhart (Riverdale), Lola Tung (The Summer I Turned Pretty), Victoria Pedretti (The Haunting of Hill House), Alexandra Shipp (Anyone But You), Gabrielle Union (Bring It On), and Emma Chamberlain (Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken).

In our exclusive new image, Pedretti's character, Cherry, can be seen making moves in the mall. Donning a cowboy hat, the young woman looks at someone over a counter, throwing a slight smile their way. On her wrist, she wears the charm bracelet that marks her as one of the members of the film's tight-knit and witchy clique.

Your next slasher obsession hails from filmmaker Meredith Alloway, who also co-penned the screenplay alongside Lily Houghton based on the latter’s stage play Of the Woman Came the Beginning of Sin, and Through Her We All Die. During a chat with Collider’s Perri Nemiroff, Alloway painted a picture of how the project came to fruition, revealing that true crime played a big part, revealing:

"I was coming off of a lot of research on female serial killers and female criminals, and so was Lily on another movie, and I was like, ‘Why do we keep having these male serial killer stories? Women kill or commit crimes for very different reasons.’ It's like the Medea of it all. She did those things to protect her children in her mind. And I was like, ‘I want stories like this. I want to write about women's dynamics.’ And then I read this play, and I was like, ‘It's Mean Girls, but a slasher.’ That was the first thing I said, so it's so crazy that the mall we're shooting at is where they shot the Mean Girls fountain scene.”

Check out the new image above and see Forbidden Fruits in cinemas on March 27. Stay tuned to Collider for more to come from our Exclusive Preview event.
