EXCLUSIVE: Daytime Emmy-nominated actress Vannessa Vasquez (Say A Little Prayer) is leading the Jon Garcia directed crime noir Motives opposite Efren Ramirez (Napoleon Dynamite) and Michael Raymond James (Godfather of Harlem).

The project reps Garcia’s 13th independent feature. Motives centers around Detective Izzy Morgan (Vasquez), a relentless investigator pulled into a dark and intricate case that exposes the hidden  violence beneath wealth and privilege.

As Izzy and her partner, Detective Mark Navarro (Ramirez), dig deeper into a disturbing murder tied to the city’s elite youth, they uncover a sinister underbelly that challenges their moral limits. Two years later, an eerily similar crime shocks the city—this time involving the son of Chief of Police Greg Lamar (Raymond-James). As the investigation twists and intensifies, Izzy is forced to confront her own compulsions and the personal cost of her pursuit of justice.

Pic is produced by Garcia and Vasquez, alongside writers R.J. Pineiro and Sean Logan.

The ensemble cast also includes Casey Hartnett (Terrorizer 2), Kyla N. Brown (Dead Deer High), and Kate McCarty (Killing the Competition).

Vasquez’s credits include the TV series East Los High, Walker, MacGyver, Border Patrol and National Treasure: Edge of History. The actress is repped by Global Artists Agency and Meyer & Downs.

Ramirez is known for playing Pedro in the cult hit Napoleon Dynamite, in addition to his roles in Lightyear, When in Rome, and the Crank franchise. The actor is repped by TalentWorks and Mainstay Entertainment.

Raymond-James is represented by Gersh, Principal Entertainment LA, and Peikoff Mahan. He has starred in the Tom Cruise movie Jack Reacher, HBO’s True Blood, See, Billions and Once Upon a Time.
