Whenever Valentine's Day rolls around each year, people typically look for some romantic movies to check out and the most appropriately titled one is currently trending on HBO Max. The platform is home to some memorable films in the genre, including tragic romances, rom-coms, and more.
HBO Max has Carol, Pride and Prejudice, Going the Distance, Materialists, Queer, and more, yet the one that ranks above them all currently on the charts is Valentine's Day. The film features a cast full of stars and is something of a forgotten project from early in the 2010s.
Valentine's Day Is Currently In HBO Max's Top 10
As noted, Valentine's Day is a hit on HBO Max, ranking in the streaming service's top five, shooting up the charts as we inch closer to the holiday. Upon release, the movie wasn't all that well-received, yet it remains something to go back and watch for a heartwarming time in February.
Valentine's Day might only have a 17% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from critics but the audience score is significantly higher at 47%. That's because a lot of the general viewing audience is just there to have a good time and not worry too much about the abundance of clichés packed into the screenplay.
The movie follows several different love stories that occur on Valentine's Day. They include tales of forbidden romance, a young couple in high school, grandparents facing troubles in their long relationship, and more.
Thanks to its star-studded cast, Valentine's Day was a hit at the box office, pulling in over $215 million on a $52 million budget. Alas, it's a movie that nobody really seems to talk about anymore, at least not until it began trending on HBO Max this week.
Valentine's Day Boasts A Tremendous Cast
The thing about Valentine's Day that stands out is its ridiculously good cast. There are Oscar winners like Anne Hathaway, Kathy Bates, Jamie Foxx, and Julia Roberts, as well as popular and acclaimed actors like Queen Latifah, Bradley Cooper, and Patrick Dempsey.
There were major names like Jessica Alba, Ashton Kutcher, and Jessica Biel, as well as a bunch of talents who were on the rise at the time like Taylor Lautner and Emma Roberts. The movie even features a young Taylor Swift, early into her career, as a high school cheerleader.
All those names and that's still not mentioning Jennifer Garner, Topher Grace, George Lopez, and more. With so many talented stars, there's a great chance you are a fan of at least a few of them, giving even more reason for pretty much everyone to at least give Valentine's Day a shot.
