EXCLUSIVE: Tyler Perry‘s Sistas is off to a promising start with its tenth season on BET.
The premiere episode, which debuted on January 7, delivered 1M total viewers after three days, according to Nielsen’s Big Data + Panel data. That includes the initial linear premiere on BET as well as encore airings.
The network says that is up double digits from the prior season launch, which suggests the audience is still growing, even though it did not provide specific data. Excluding sports and news, the Sistas Season 10 premiere was the top cable telecast among Black viewers on premiere day, particularly in the adults 18-49 demo.
BET also touts that Sistas has been doing well on social media, becoming the top social drama program on January 7.
From Tyler Perry Studios, the hour-long series Sistas follows a group of single Black women as they navigate their complicated love lives, careers, and friendships through the ups and downs of living in a modern world of social media and unrealistic relationship goals. They must navigate this new-age dating scene as they search for love in their 30s.
The ensemble cast includes KJ Smith, Mignon, Ebony Obsidian, Novi Brown, Crystal Renee’ Hayslett, Devale Ellis, Chido Nwokocha, Brian Jordan Jr., Angela “Angie” Beyincé, Branden Wellington, Chris Warren, and Kevin A. Walton. Darone Okolie, Walnette Marie Santiago, and Sullivan Jones recurred in Season 9. Jordan Coleman and Tunde Oyeneyin join the cast this season as new series regulars.
Sistas 10 is written by Courtney Glaude, directed by Armani Ortiz, and executive produced by Tyler Perry.
Tyler Perry’s Sistas airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. CT on BET.
