Dinosaur is back on the menu thanks to Turok: Origins, which was revealed at The Game Awards 2024 on Thursday night.
A revival of the classic first-person shooter franchise, the Saber Interactive-developed Turok: Origins (see the trailer here) shifts gameplay to an over-the-shoulder third-person perspective.
“Play as the legendary Turok warriors to face off against ferocious dinosaurs and a terrifying alien threat that seeks to destroy all human life in the galaxy,” the game’s official website reads. “Unleash devastating attacks on your enemies with weapons and abilities, and harness fallen enemies’ DNA to upgrade your arsenal. Embark on a high-stakes adventure — solo or with friends — to unravel mysteries that hold the key to saving humanity.”
Based on the comic book of the same name, Turok first debuted on the Nintendo 64 in 1997 and spawned several sequels. More recently, the franchise was rebooted with 2008’s Turok, a critically panned effort from now-defunct Propaganda Games.
Turok: Origins is planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC. No release date has been specified.
