
Another Trump cabinet member is out: Lori Chavez-DeRemer, the secretary of labor, resigned on Monday.
White House Communications Director Steven Cheung said in a statement that she “will be leaving the Administration to take a position in the private sector. She has done a phenomenal job in her role by protecting American workers, enacting fair labor practices, and helping Americans gain additional skills to improve their lives.”
He said that Keith Sonderling will take on the role of acting secretary of labor.
Chavez-DeRemer is the third cabinet departure in the past two months, after Donald Trump ousted Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Attorney General Pam Bondi.
Chavez-DeRemer’s exit comes amid a reports of inspector general investigations of her conduct while in office.
Chavez-DeRemer previously served in Congress representing an Oregon district.
