EXCLUSIVE: The CBS comedy series Elsbeth has added Tracey Ullman (The Tracey Ullman Show) and Jordana Brewster (Fast & Furious) to its growing list of guest stars for Season 2. New episodes return on January 30 at 10 p.m.
Based on the character featured in The Good Wife and The Good Fight, the series follows Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston), the astute but unconventional consent decree attorney working with the NYPD to catch New York’s well-heeled murderers utilizing her unique point of view.
Ullman will portray Marilyn, a professional psychic with elite Manhattan clients who won’t make a move without consulting her first. When the stepson of one of her wealthy clients is murdered, Elsbeth must match wits with a woman whose supernatural gifts usually keep her one step ahead.
Brewster will play Chloe, a beautiful, elegant “lifestyle consultant,” usually found on the arms of the high rollers on billionaire’s row. Of course, one man’s “lifestyle consultant” is another man’s high-price escort. Chloe will do anything for her clients, even murder.
It was announced earlier this week that Alyssa Milano will also guest-star on the series in the role of Pupetta DeMarco, a fiery and sexy former mafia princess now running a family restaurant that was the site of a legendary mob hit. Pupetta is none-too-thrilled when Elsbeth becomes interested in that famous murder from long ago.
Elsbeth is produced by CBS Studios and executive produced by Robert King, Michelle King, Jonathan Tolins, Liz Glotzer, Erica Shelton Kodish, Bryan Goluboff and Gail Barringer with Tolins serving as showrunner. Robert and Michelle King co-created the series.
Ullman is best known for her series The Tracey Ullman Show, which aired from 1987-1990. Over the years, she has received seven Emmys, a Golden Globe, a SAG Award, three CableACEs, eight American Comedy Awards, and a BAFTA. In 2014, Ullman was seen in Into the Woods alongside Meryl Streep. She followed that up with a starring role in the limited series Howards End for the BBC and Starz. The BBC commissioned Tracey Ullman’s Show in 2016, later renamed Tracey Breaks The News. Recent credits include FX’s Mrs. America and Season 12 of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Brewster is best known for her portrayal of Mia Toretto in the Fast & Furious franchise. Recent film credits include Simulant with Robbie Amell and Sam Worthington, Who Invited Charlie? with Adam Pally and Cellar Door with Laurence Fishburne. Her next project is Heart Eyes, which will be released next month. Her TV credits include Ryan Murphy’s American Crime Story, Fox’s Lethal Weapon, TNT’s Dallas and ABC’s Secrets and Lies.
