One of the highlights of the December lull in society news was seeing PR guru Montarna Pitt celebrate her newfound singledom with a divorce party.
The eastern suburbs 'It' girl invited several girlfriends to Mimi's, where they wined and dined on lobster, pasta, salad and fries all while sipping expensive white wine...
...before cutting into a cake bearing her new name: Montarna McDonald.
It was quite the way to announce she was reverting to her maiden name following the collapse of her marriage to lawyer Nicholas Pitt.
Her glamorous gathering soon became the talk of east, with guests including Pilates queen Bernadette Sukkar, stylist Caroline Tran and heiress Louise O'Neil.
But that wasn't the only news on the McDonald-Pitt divorce front.

Daily Mail Australia can reveal the former couple's marital home in leafy Paddington was also sold late last year for an undisclosed sum.
There was no sale price given for the glorious 1900s terrace on Renny Street, but value estimates suggest it went for about $4million.
Montarna is understood to have left the Paddo address and, according to insiders, has decamped to her parents' lavish home in Clovelly.
Now, there's no shame in moving in with mum and dad after a divorce, and there's plenty of room in Mama and Papa McDonald's five-bedroom pad for Montarna and her two girls.
But it was apparently noteworthy enough for more than one of our eastern suburbs sources to tip us off last week.
We weren't able to catch Montarna coming and going from the Clovelly home; however, recent Instagram posts do appear to confirm she is spending a lot of time there.
Several IG Stories show her enjoying time with her kids by the 12m swimming pool, which matches publicly available real estate photos of the house's backyard.
The circumstances of Montarna and Nick's divorce remain unclear.

However, we understand one newspaper report of the break-up was quietly spiked by its editors because it contained an inaccuracy.
When contacted for comment, Montarna confirmed the marital home had been sold and she was 'the process of moving out to a new property'. Nick did not respond by the time of publication.
Montarna, who worked for Roxy Jacenko at Sweaty Betty PR before founding her own business, The Audience Agency, began dating the Sydney lawyer, a personal injury specialist at the firm Wotton Kearney, in 2014.
The pair tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at Redleaf Wollombi, just a short drive from the wineries of the Hunter Valley, in 2018.

On the eve of what would have been their six-year wedding anniversary, Montarna threw a divorce party
Montarna and Nick were married for six years and together for 10 when they parted ways last year. They share two daughters.
News of their separation came to light back in July, but while society splits tend to become tabloid fodder, details about this particular break-up have remained scant.
On the eve of what would have been their six-year wedding anniversary, Montarna threw a celebratory party and formally reverted to her maiden name.
Montarna, who donned a pink sequined knee-length frock with a plunging neckline, documented the lavish 'do on Instagram, alongside the caption: 'To new beginnings.'
Several friends and fans congratulated her on her fresh start.
'To new beginnings, cheers Montana McDonald,' commented Lisa Wipfli, the wife of Sydney radio presenter Michael 'Wippa' Wipfli.
