Prime Video is starting March 2026 off strong with a major new release that's just hours away from its worldwide premiere. In the meantime, Prime Video also offers a variety of classic and modern series that are among the most acclaimed and fan-approved TV shows ever made.

This week, Prime Video's best shows right now include an underrated crime drama, a hidden gem comedy series, an immersive period piece, a forgotten spy thriller, and the debut of one of the most anticipated new streaming series of 2026.

Sneaky Pete

Since it originally came out in 2015, Sneaky Pete has been one of the best yet underappreciated gangster comedy series of the last decade. Giovanni Robisi stars as Marius, a con man on the run from a dangerous gangster who assumes the identity of his prison cellmate, Pete, for protection.

Sneaky Pete was one of the first Prime original series to gain critical acclaim, earning a near-perfect 96% Rotten Tomatoes score. With 30 total episodes across three seasons, Sneaky Pete is undoubtedly one of the best crime comedy original series available to binge on Amazon Prime Video.

Catastrophe

Catastrophe is another 2015 Prime original series that is worth watching, even 11 years after its debut. The TV-MA-rated sitcom stars Rob Delaney as an American man who accidentally knocks up an Irish woman, played by Sharon Hogan, while on a business trip in London.

Catastrophe was nominated for 2 Emmys during its 4-season, 24-episode run, but never achieved the popularity it deserved based on its remarkable 98% Rotten Tomatoes score. For non-stop laughs, great leading duo chemistry, and an edgy rom-com vibe, Catastrophe is a winner on Prime Video.

Carnival Row

Carnival Row had so much potential following its 2019 debut on Prime Video, but was delayed by the global pandemic and ultimately canceled in 2023 after two seasons. Although it divided critics, the dark fantasy epic series won over a dedicated fanbase, who deserved more seasons than Prime Video produced.

Starring Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne, Carnival Row combined fantasy with crime thriller elements to create a distinctly riveting viewing experience. Like several other Prime Video fantasy series, such as The Rings of Power, Carnival Row is visually stunning and full of impressive production value, and is worth watching for fans of period pieces that blend crime drama with supernatural fantasy.

Patriot

Patriot is a fun mix of dark comedy and political spy drama that is absolutely worth binge-watching on Prime Video. The Prime original series stars Michael Forman as John Tavner, an intelligence officer with a surprisingly mundane life who is tasked with preventing Iran from going nuclear.

Patriot was developed by Steve Conrad, whose new HBO series DTF St. Louis just premiered last Sunday. The series features strong performances by Kurtwood Smith, Michael Chernus, Kathleen Munroe, and more, consisting of 18 episodes across two seasons and earning a Rotten Tomatoes score of 91%.

Young Sherlock

The biggest new TV release on Prime Video this week, and perhaps in March 2026, is Young Sherlock. Chronicling some of the early years of legendary detective Sherlock Holmes, played by Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Young Sherlock follows the first-ever case of the budding detective as he unravels a worldwide conspiracy.

Young Sherlock is co-developed by Guy Ritchie, best known for his stylish spy thrillers like The Gentlemen, and for directing the 2009 Sherlock movie starring Robert Downey Jr. The prequel series will combine action, adventure, and classic whodunnit mystery, and is bound to be the most-watched new show on Prime Video this week that subscribers won't want to miss.
