Tommy Lee Jones has joined the cast of “The Lowdown” Season 2.
He’ll star opposite Ethan Hawke in the Western-noir from “Reservation Dogs” creator Sterlin Harjo. The season, which also stars series newcomer Betty Gilpin, begins production this spring in Tulsa, Okla.
The show follows citizen journalist and self-proclaimed “truthstorian” Lee Raybon, whose exposé about the powerful Washberg family flings him into the center of a local conspiracy. When the publication of his article is followed by the suspicious suicide of Dale Washberg, Lee follows a trail of breadcrumbs to find out the truth.
“The Lowdown” Season 1 starred Keith David and featured guest stars Kyle MacLachlan, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Tim Blake Nelson, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Michael “Killer Mike” Render, Kaniehtiio Horn, Tracy Letts, Peter Dinklage and Graham Greene.
The series is executive produced by Harjo, Garrett Basch, Hawke, Ryan Hawke, Duffy Boudreau and Scott Teems. It’s produced by FX Productions with all episodes currently available to stream on Hulu.
Jones is an Oscar winning actor for playing U.S. Marshal Sam Gerard in the 1993 film “The Fugitive.” He also received Academy Award nominations for his portrayal of Clay Shaw in Oliver Stone’s “JFK,” as well as “Lincoln” and “In the Valley of Elah.” He made his feature film debut in “Love Story” and is also revered for his role in the Coen brothers’ “No Country for Old Men.” Jones’ credits also include “Batman Forever,” “Rules of Engagement,” the “Men in Black” movies, “Ad Astra,” “Jason Bourne” and the recent courtroom drama “The Burial” alongside Jamie Foxx.
