Tom Hardy's MobLand Season 3 Fate Officially Sealed By Paramount+ Ahead Of Season 2 Premiere

After months of turmoil, Paramount+ has made an official decision on MobLand season 3.

Led by Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, the crime drama primarily revolves around the powerful Harrigan mob family in London, who consistently find their power under threat from others looking to take control of the country, with their fixer Harry Da Souza doing everything he can to prevent multiple wars. MobLand season 2 was confirmed a few weeks after season 1's ending, with the story finding the power struggle now extending internally.

Ahead of season 2's September 18 premiere, Paramount+ has officially sealed MobLand season 3's fate, confirming the crime drama has been renewed for a new season. The streamer also confirmed that the next chapter of the series will include Hardy, Brosnan and Mirren all reprising their roles, though no other cast members were explicitly named for the season 3 roster.

The confirmation of MobLand season 3's development not only arrives ahead of season 2's return, but also after the show's future found itself in trouble. Reports began swirling this past May that Hardy would not be returning for a third season, albeit reports conflicting as to whether the executive producer/star had been fired from the crime drama, or elected to depart due to creative differences between him and showrunner Jez Butterworth.

The drama had largely been squashed when it was reported in late June that Hardy had closed a deal, along with Brosnan and Mirren, to return for MobLand season 3. However, Paramount+'s Head of Originals Jane Wiseman clarified shortly thereafter that the streamer actually hadn't made a decision on the show's fate, with only a writers room having been open thus far.

Beyond just the overall confirmation that the show will return, the fact that Paramount+ has now officially announced that Hardy, Brosnan and Mirren will be back for MobLand season 3 raises some intriguing questions regarding season 2's story. Though season 1 saw Harry and the Harrigans effectively squash the escalating war with the Stevensons, it also ended with Janet McTeer's Kat McAllister moving forward with her own plans to dethrone the former family's power, establishing some major stakes for everyone, including Brosnan's Conrad and Mirren's Maeve, in the new season.

However, even while the three leads have now been confirmed to be coming out alive going into MobLand season 3, that doesn't inherently mean the body count won't be high going into season 2. Given Conrad looks to still be on a tear, particularly with Paddy Considine's Kevin, and Mandeep Dhillon's Seraphina previously met with Kat with her own sights on the Harrigan throne, the family civil war may result in a few key faces meeting their end by the end.

MobLand season 2 premieres on Paramount+ on September 18.
