Tom Hardy & Guy Ritchie’s Returning Crime Drama Is Chasing Another Taylor Sheridan Record

3 weeks ago 15

Tom Hardy and Guy Ritchie achieved a major streaming record with the debut season of their hit crime drama last year, overtaking Taylor Sheridan’s one of biggest ongoing series. Now, MobLand is chasing another record set by a different Sheridan release during the past six months.

In April 2025, MobLand broke Taylor Sheridan’s Tulsa King record for the most-streamed series premiere on Paramount’s streaming platform. But the Sheridan series went one better by setting another staggering benchmark for viewership with the first episode of Landman’s second season. Then, Landman’s season 2 finale attracted the biggest audience for a season-ending episode in the streamer’s history.

MobLand season 1’s first episode was streamed 2.2 million times during the first day of its release, shattering the figure Taylor Sheridan’s crime drama Tulsa King had set in 2022. Sylvester Stallone was undoubtedly a big reason why this show about a mafia caporegime moving his operation to Oklahoma appealed to so many viewers upon its initial release.

Yet, Tom Hardy and Guy Ritchie seem to have outdone Stallone as star attractions on Paramount+, as their own British mob drama accrued even more views within the first 24 hours of its release. It also beat out other Taylor Sheridan creations Landman and 1923 in achieving this landmark statistic.

MobLand’s popularity isn’t all down to Hardy, of course, as the series features some major names in its supporting cast, too. The likes of Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, and Paddy Considine will certainly have helped to bolster its ratings. In any case, the unprecedented success of its first season makes it one of this year’s most anticipated returning shows.

Taylor Sheridan Set Another Paramount Record With Landman Season 2

If those involved in MobLand wanted a new target to aim for with season 2, then Taylor Sheridan set them one with the season 2 premiere of his biggest ongoing Western series. Landman’s second season received the most views of any returning release in the history of Paramount+ during its first two days on the platform (via Collider).

Within 48 hours, the season premiere "Death and a Sunset" reached 9.2 million views worldwide. If that wasn’t enough, its season 2 finale did something even more spectacular. The episode is the highlight of an inconsistent bunch, with Billy Bob Thornton at his very best as Tommy Norris.

But it’s with quantity rather than quality that it’s really raised the bar. Landman’s second-season finale broke yet another Paramount+ record, by achieving the highest viewing in the platform’s history for any season-ending episode, period. A whopping 14.8 million people watched it in the space of two days. MobLand season 2 has its work cut out surpassing this figure.

What To Expect From Season 2 Of MobLand

Nevertheless, the second season of Guy Ritchie’s crime drama has a great chance of breaking Landman’s season premiere record, at least, especially now that it’s making headlines for the wrong reasons. In a stunning turn of events, Tom Hardy has reportedly been fired from MobLand following the production of season 2, after on-set problems related to punctuality and creative differences.

Since the season’s filming has already wrapped, Hardy will be returning as Harry Da Souza, as internal conflicts boil over in the Harrigan crime family he works for, and he’s tailed by mysterious rival crime boss Kat McAllister. Although there’s no official release date for MobLand season 2 just yet, Guy Ritchie has confirmed that it’s definitely arriving in 2026.
