Ryan O'Rourke is a Senior News Writer at Collider with a specific interest in all things adult animation, video game adaptations, and the work of Mike Flanagan. He is also an experienced baseball writer with over six years of articles between multiple outlets, most notably FanSided's CubbiesCrib. Whether it's taking in a baseball game, a new season of Futurama or Castlevania: Nocturne, or playing the latest From Software title, he is always finding ways to show his fandom. When it comes to gaming and anything that takes inspiration from it, he is deeply opinionated on what's going on. Outside of entertainment, he's a graduate of Eureka College with a Bachelor's in Communication where he honed his craft as a writer. Between The IV Leader at Illinois Valley Community College and The Pegasus at Eureka, he spent the majority of his college career publishing articles on everything from politics to campus happenings and, of course, entertainment for the student body. Those principles he learned covering the 2020 election, Palestine, and so much more are brought here to Collider, where he has gleefully written on everything from the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes to Nathan Lane baby-birding sewer boys.

Timothy Olyphant will be forever known as Justified's old-school Stetson-donning U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens, but he's been a fixture on television years after the series came to an end. Aside from his brief return as the lawman in FX's Justified: City Primeval, the Emmy nominee has done just about everything, from The Five-Star Weekend to Alien: Earth, Steven Soderbergh's Full Circle, and even a stint as the Terminator in Terminator: Zero. Apple TV most recently acquired his services for the Anya Taylor-Joy crime thriller, Lucky, which released back in July. However, that wasn't his first rodeo with the streamer.

Last year saw Olyphant take to the green for Apple's new golf comedy Stick, starring Owen Wilson. Though the series revolves around the Wedding Crashers star's character, Pryce Cahill, as he dedicates himself to mentoring young golf prodigy Santi Wheeler (Peter Dager), Olyphant still has a big part to play as his former rival on the professional tour, Clark Ross. Season 1 follows Pryce's evolution as he goes from using his temperamental new protégé as a catalyst to launch his own redemption tour as a professional to forming a genuine connection with the up-and-comer and, ultimately, improving himself through uplifting another. A second round is now on the way for November, but before then, Wilson, Olyphant, and the rest of the cast are now officially taking the game to free streaming.

Today, October 21, Stick debuts on Samsung TV Plus for a limited-time run in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia. The service is a free ad-supported streamer available primarily to users with Samsung Smart TVs and other devices. Though not quite as wide-reaching as the major names like Tubi and Pluto TV, it boasts a base of over 100 million users a month and has built a fairly expansive catalog of on-demand shows and films, along with over 5,000 ad-supported linear channels. It has also since launched on web browsers, making it possible for anyone to use the service for free and catch up on Stick, so long as they create a Samsung account.

'Stick' Season 2 Brings Pryce Back to the Tour

Season 2 promises big developments for Pryce and Santi following a pivotal ReadySafe invitational performance. While the younger golfer didn't win, he made such a strong impression on everybody that all eyes are going to be on him during his professional rise. On this new level, though, talent is the expectation, and it's only the players who can harness it that will ever make it far. Pryce, meanwhile, is eyeing something greater. While still dedicated to Santi, the final shot of the season hints that he's found his swing again, which gets him considering the unthinkable — returning to the PGA Tour at 50 years old. Rhea Seehorn will be joining Wilson and company alongside fellow new additions John Higgins, Billy Zane, Rex Linn, Sasha Alexander, and Missi Pyle.

Stick Season 1 streams for free on Samsung TV Plus starting today. Stay tuned here at Collider for more on Season 2 ahead of its arrival on November 4.
