EXCLUSIVE: TikTok is keen to get further into the original series game with vertical dramas.
The social media platform has recently become a haven for original scripted vertical series and is pushing further into the genre with a new romantic drama starring Sam Morgan.
The untitled series stars Morgan, who has featured in episodes of CBS’ Blue Bloods and Bull, alongside Vanessa Von Schwarz (Cheer Queen Returns To Slay).
Morgan plays Andre Voss-Emerson, a free-spirited Silicon Valley playboy who has secretly loved supermodel Clara Murphy (Von Schwarz) since high school — just never out loud. When she re-enters his life on his brother’s arm, he must decide whether risking everything is worth finally being chosen.
Morgan has starred in a number of vertical dramas including No Mercy for the Cuckoo, The Maid with His Blood: Came Back to Burn, The Lady Boss’ Small Town Valentine and A Mistaken Baby With the Mafia Enemy.
The series will launch for free in a newly launched originals section within TikTok the app; most vertical dramas on the social media platform are paywalled.
It is produced by 24K Onions, the production company founded by Yang Bohan and Sun Tianze, Chinese filmmakers who graduated from the American Film Institute who have previously produced My Secret With Country Boys and Bring It On: My Mafia Life. It has been made in collaboration with TikTok, which is the distributor as well as a collaborator on the IP.
