Chrissy Metz has revealed she is on a GLP-1 weight loss medication after dropping 100lbs.

The 45-year-old This Is Us actress announced a new partnership with the online service Ro on Monday, and said she wants 'to take care of myself' – amid Hollywood's Ozempic craze.

'I’m not getting any younger,' she told People magazine. 'I’m in perimenopause, and there were obesity issues within my family and with my father, and I felt like I’ve tried so many modalities, whether it was diets or therapy, and none of it really worked for me.'

She also candidly spoke about her use of the medicine while appearing on Today with Jenna and Sheinelle.

Metz said taking the prescription drug has quieted her obsessive thoughts about food. 'There's space for more creativity, more work, more being present in the moment,' she explained.

It comes after the entertainer revealed to the Daily Mail last year that she shed 100lbs through strength training and changes to her diet.

Metz told People she was hesitant to try a GLP-1s for years, figuring they wouldn’t be effective, or would give her uncomfortable side effects.

However, after trying the substance, she shared, 'It’s been great! I’ve enjoyed the benefits that I didn’t think that would come, because I was very skeptical.'

She added, 'I just vilified food for so long because I was taught that it was bad, and you shouldn’t eat this or that.'

Metz said the rewards of weight loss include having more mobility, plus less joint pain and reduced inflammation.

The Broadway star, who currently stars as Angelique in the musical & Juliet, said the changes have allowed her to 'run around onstage' more easily.

When considering implementing a GLP-1 into her lifestyle, she shared, 'My thinking was, how can I better myself and put myself first, which has always been the bane of my existence because I’m a people pleaser.

'But I know that my blood work is already better, and I’m headed in the right direction of getting ahead of things that needed getting ahead of.'

And the entertainer continues to prioritize fitness, telling the outlet, 'I know it’s not a magic wand, and I need to change other things, so I’ve been working with a trainer, and I’m lifting and putting on muscle and it’s really about how comfortable I am, and learning what I’m capable of.'

She said there is not a particular number she's trying to reach on the scale amid her weight loss journey.

'I really try not to have a number. I just want to feel strong and not have my morning ruined because I stepped on a scale and I’m several pounds above what I think I should be,' she explained.

Metz previously said she had 'very complicated feelings' about weight loss drugs.

'If you’re diabetic and need to lower your A1C, these are things that are important to take care of. But if you already have a restrictive eating disorder and take something that minimizes your appetite, it can become a very slippery slope,' she told People one year ago.

'I never said I was the poster child for body positivity. I just want to do what I can do to live the longest, healthiest life,' Metz said at the time.

While speaking about her father's tragic death from sepsis after getting gastric bypass surgery, the Florida native said she does not want to meet the same fate.
