It might feel like you have to spend a fortune to be able to play games on the move, but if you don’t mind making some compromises, it’s still very possible to do so on a budget. That’s the case with this Acer Nitro V at Amazon for $699.99 (was $799.99).

It has the essentials, including a 15.6-inch full HD display with a 165Hz refresh rate, so it looks suitably sharp and responsive when playing most games. There are compromises for the lower price, though, like an older Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 GPU and only 8GB of RAM — but that’s not bad at all for the price and is capable of playing undemanding games at medium settings without issue.

Today’s best gaming laptop deal

We haven't specifically reviewed this particular model but when looking at a newer revision, our Acer Nitro V review called it a “capable 1080p gaming machine with a surprisingly vibrant display to boot.”

We gave it four stars out of five and appreciated its “good 1080p performance.” Such performance led to it being one of the best gaming laptops around for anyone on a budget. Just bear in mind that its battery life could be a little better, but I’m not surprised there are some flaws when it’s such a low price.

That mentality extends to this slightly older model and looks just as good with a subtle but fun gamer aesthetic.

If you can afford to spend more, there are other gaming laptop deals to consult. If gaming isn’t a priority, there are some great value laptop deals around too.
