Chris is a Senior News Writer for Collider. He can be found in an IMAX screen, with his eyes watering and his ears bleeding for his own pleasure. He joined the news team in 2022 and accidentally fell upwards into a senior position despite his best efforts.

For reasons unknown, he enjoys analyzing box office receipts, giant sharks, and has become known as the go-to man for all things BoschMission: Impossible and Christopher Nolan in Collider's news division. Recently, he found himself yeehawing along to the Dutton saga on the Yellowstone Ranch.

He is proficient in sarcasm, wit, Photoshop and working unfeasibly long hours. Amongst his passions sit the likes of the history of the Walt Disney Company, the construction of theme parks, steam trains and binge-watching Gilmore Girls with a coffee that is just hot enough to scald him.

His obsession with the Apple TV+ series Silo is the subject of mockery within the Senior News channel, where his feelings about Taylor Sheridan's work are enough to make his fellow writers roll their eyes.

Some cult movies only need one good platform break to explode all over again. Snowpiercer has gotten that break on Pluto TV. Bong Joon-ho’s icy apocalypse thriller has always had passionate fans, but free streaming has opened it up to a much wider crowd, and the result has been a serious chart surge.

The movie recently climbed to the top of Pluto TV’s U.S. movie chart, with multiple outlets highlighting how strongly it was performing there. That makes a lot of sense. It’s the sort of film people either missed the first time or have been waiting for an easy excuse to revisit. The cast includes Chris Evans, Tilda Swinton, Song Kang-ho, Jamie Bell, John Hurt, and Octavia Spencer. It’s still one of the boldest studio-backed sci-fi movies of its era, and Pluto TV is helping it hit like a discovery again.

We pay tribute to the talents who helped define Hollywood.

Is 'Snowpiercer' Worth Watching?

Collider’s review stated that Snowpiercer is biting sci-fi that takes the time to dissect class conflict, revolution, and humanity’s history of repeating mistakes. Brutal and unflinching at times, the film balances its darkness with raw action and a gorgeous setting, even if its conclusions occasionally wobble. The review praised the film’s central mysteries — particularly why the elites allow the poor to remain alive and why children are selectively taken — noting that the payoff is earned through Bong’s world building.

"Snowpiercer is a challenge in a movie landscape where sci-fi action rarely challenges us. As we've seen in films such as Prometheus and Transcendence, sci-fi in modern films usually amounts to Icarus stories. Bong Joon-ho forces us to look deeper and done so with a film that can be harsh, but never hateful. It's a cold, grim world, and yet the fire and fury of his characters and their story keep this unique vision burning bright."

Snowpiercer is streaming now.
