Team-Up Abilities are one of Marvel Rival’s most interesting mechanics is its Team-Up Abilities. Superheroes and villains working together to bring out unique buffs or exclusive moves is a fantastic idea that’s a lot of fun to play with. Although they’re not needed to win matches, each ability adds exciting gameplay additions to the characters. That being said, some are just plain better than others.

Season Zero’s Team-Up Abilities are incredibly varied and feel notably distinct from one another. That variance just happens to also lead to some differences in effectiveness. Read on for our choices of what the best Marvel Rivals team-up attacks are in the game’s premiere season.
Thor can assist a couple of characters with his Thorforce when they’re on his team. Storm will gain access to a lightning attack that can bounce around and hit multiple enemies. Captain America will meanwhile earn an activatable buff state.
Both heroes benefit greatly from the added moves, but Captain America sees the most improvement. Utilizing the buff gives him a movement bonus and an electric AoE (area-of-effect) buff for his shield throw. These can make him a menace for leading a charge or picking off enemies from the sides.
If you’ve played Overwatch and are a fan of Tracer’s Recall ability, you’ll love Magik’s Team-Up. She provides a similar rewind technique to both Black Panther and Psylocke that returns them to the position they were in five seconds earlier. If they took any damage within that period, they’ll receive some partially healed health too. Overall, this ability is a great tool to increase their survival chances.
Psylocke arguably gets the better end of the bargain here as she’s slower than Black Panther and has 100 less health. Although her Psi-Blade Dash and Psychic Stealth can lead to a quick exit, she’s still in danger within big open areas. Magik’s Dimensional Shortcut provides a new way to escape sticky situations and maybe get some health back too.
Luna Snow is a fun character to use, but you’re going to need good aim as her kit mostly revolves around healing and damaging projectile attacks. Only her Ultimate move has an AoE cast to it. Iron Fist can make up for this drawback with his Atlas Bond Team-Up.

This ability will give Luna an AoE spell that will heal those around her with a burst of health. It will also knock enemies back with a little bit of damage while inflicting a slowing effect for two seconds. Whether you’re using it to heal multiple teammates, aid in an escape, or pin down some enemies for some eliminations, this is one of the most versatile Team-Up Abilities so far. Using it can make that MVP or SVP title a lot more attainable for a healer like Luna.
Groot is a fun tanky character on his own, but for some of us it’s hard to imagine him without also thinking of a furry raccoon creature riding on his shoulder with a giant gun. The Planet X Pals Team-Up brings that imagery to life by allowing either Rocket Raccoon or Jeff The Land Shark to attach onto Groot’s shoulder. They can then attack from the position while enjoying a damage reduction.
Out of all the Team-Ups, this one lends itself to feeling the most symbiotic. Groot can help his smaller friends charge into battle more easily, with both picking off enemies as they go. At the same time, Groot’s passengers can provide easy heals straight from his shoulder. I highly encourage jumping onto your next tree man teammate if you want a more active role during combat.
Some heroes can be a part of multiple Team-Ups. Luna Snow can provide both Jeff the Land Shark and Namor with icy versions of an existing ability. The former temporarily modifies his Aqua Burst to slow enemies, while the latter gets a Frozen Spawn that can slow enemies.
Slowing down your targets is always a fantastic option given how hectic Marvel Rivals matches can get. Both characters play better with these additions, but Namor might edge out for some cooler applications. Just like his regular Monstro Spawn, his Frozen Spawn can also be enhanced. Giving him turrets that slow down enemies and can briefly increase their firing rate is a game-changer.
A Team-Up between two sniper characters is a deadly alliance. When on a team together, Hawkeye gifts Black Widow with a slightly neutered version of his Hunter’s Sight ultimate. She’ll see afterimages generated for eight seconds and can deal damage through them.
The only drawback here is that any Afterimage damage through this ability won’t deal critical hits. It’s a favorable trade-off whether you’re a great sniper or a less-skilled one like me.
Adam Warlock has a one-of-a-kind passive ability with his Regenerative Cocoon. It allows him to move his soul around after dying to choose a place to respawn directly to. His Guardian Revival Team-Up allows him to share this ability with both Mantis and Star-Lord.
Having a self-revive is an incredibly useful option to help you return to the fight quicker. Like Adam Warlock’s version, the one caveat is that everyone can see you in soul form. Try to be discreet with where you return to so you’re not immediately eliminated again.
Ammo Overload was a huge threat in the betas and it remains so after the official launch. When Rocket Raccoon is on the same team as The Punisher and/or Winter Soldier, he can throw out a device that buffs the latter two with a faster firing rate and infinite ammo. This dramatic change in damage output can make getting an Ace kill a lot easier.
Both The Punisher and Winter Soldier dish out decent damage already, but this Team-Up Ability is akin to activating cheat codes. The device’s range is also decent enough that there are always options on where to place it. If these characters are on the same team, this ability needs to be used.
Keeping these top abilities in mind will go a long way during the remainder of Marvel Rivals‘ Season Zero. Recognizing that your enemies have them or that your team could have one if you switch characters is great knowledge to have. Play smart, have fun, and watch out for those Iron Fists.
