The Witcher fans have been speculating heavily recently about a highly rumored upcoming DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which is allegedly supposed to bridge the gap between the events of The Witcher 3 and 4. However, while multiple rumors have surfaced related to this DLC, no official word has come out from CD Projekt Red themselves.

With no DLC news, fans are starting to get antsy waiting for the eventual release of The Witcher 4, currently slated for a 2027 launch. Fortunately, there's plenty of Witcher content out there to keep players busy in the interim, with various fan-created mods available, tons of Witcher-themed gear, several unique comic adventures featuring Geralt, and even a brand-new Japanese-inspired RPG titled The Witcher: Path of Destiny - Ronin (via asmodee).

The Witcher Is Back With A Ronin-Inspired RPG

The Witcher: Path of Destiny is returning with a new iteration of its beloved tabletop RPG adaptation featuring the beloved characters from the Witcher universe reimagined through the lens of Japanese folklore. The original The Witcher: Path of Destiny, created by Go On Board and CD Projekt Red, was released back in 2023, and is hailed among Witcher fans as a truly unique and original experience.

Experience a new world where Witchers wield katanas, magic meets samurai culture, and stories unfold through Eastern-inspired mythology ... Build abilities, form partnerships, and make strategic decisions using action cards, experience markers, and unique player boards.

The new Ronin installment is a standalone tabletop game set in an alternate Witcher universe inspired by ronin/samurai culture and folklore, allowing players to take on the role of one of the following seven featured characters:

  • Geralt
  • Ciri
  • Yennefer
  • Triss
  • Vesemir
  • Jaskier
  • Yuki Onna

The Witcher: Path of Destiny - Ronin was originally available as an add-on for the original The Witcher: Path of Destiny, but has officially hit shelves in its own standalone packaging featuring a beautiful new redesign and original artwork. The game comes with a Bamboo imitation play-mat, seven unique character miniatures, and everything else you need for a truly original Witcher experience through a samurai lens. It will cost you roughly $100 USD, and is slated to release soon on Friday, May 1, 2026.

This Should Keep Us Busy Till The Witcher 4

It's clear that hype for The Witcher 4 is at its peak, especially after a recent NVIDIA tech showcase where players got a glimpse at what's in store graphically speaking. While we don't have a definitive release window in or beyond 2027 just yet, it's pretty obvious that fans are in for something truly breathtaking and groundbreaking.

If you're feeling restless waiting for the new Witcher 3 DLC or The Witcher 4's eventual release in 2027 (or later), The Witcher: Path of Destiny - Ronin will definitely keep you busy for a while. It's a perfect way to get hyped for what's to come in The Witcher franchise.
