Steven Spielberg Achieves EGOT Status After First Grammy Win
Steven Spielberg hasn’t lost his cinematic pull.
In fact, he’s bringing in gold. The storied filmmaker snagged the number one spot in Forbes’ 2026 World’s Billionaires list on March 10, marking the second time he’s topped the ranking in a row.
According to the publication, it’s estimated the Jaws director is worth $7.1 billion for several reasons, including being the highest grossing film director of all time. He’s earned that title thanks to his iconic films Jurassic Park, E.T. the Extraterrestrial, the Indiana Jones franchise and more.
Not to mention, the 79-year-old also receives profits from Universal Studios every year due to the rides named after his movies.
Beyond the amusement park, the Saving Private Ryan director—who first appeared on Forbes’ list in 1994, but he didn’t secure the top spot until 2025—elevated his cash flow through his production company Amblin Entertainment and being the cofounder of the animation studio DreamWorks.
Steven isn’t the only film and TV maestro that appeared on Forbes’ list this year. Coming in second place was Star Wars creator George Lucas, who is estimated to be worth $5.2 billion. Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson landed in the $1.6 billion threshold, with the likes of James Cameron, Dick Wolf and Tyler Perry following close behind.
As for other familiar names in the entertainment industry who filled out the rankings? Among them are stars like Rihanna, Beyoncé—who entered the billionaires club last December—her husband JAY-Z, Taylor Swift, Kim Kardashian and Oprah Winfrey.

Beyond Steven’s latest billionaire recognition, he also won big when he earned his first Grammy last month. With that accolade, he’s now a part of the short list of individuals who have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and a Tony—a.k.a the EGOT.
“This acknowledgment is obviously deeply meaningful to me because it validates what I have known for over 50 years: John Williams’ influence on culture and music is immeasurable and his artistry and legacy is unrivaled,” the director, who won a Best Music Film trophy for his producing work on the Music by John Williams documentary, said in a statement at the time. “I am proud to be associated with Laurent's beautiful film.”
