Jeff Dodge (he/him), a published author and graduate of Western Washington University, has been a TV news editor for many years and has had the chance to interview multiple reality show stars, including Randy Jackson, Nick Cannon, Heidi Klum, Mel B and John Cena. Fun Fact: he’s been to every single Idol Live! Tour.
One of the stars of the USA legal drama The Rainmaker revealed a huge production update seven months after the 10-episode first season ended.
P. J. Byrne, who plays J. Lyman Stone and Associates paralegal Deck Shifflet, took to Instagram to announce that filming has started for The Rainmaker season 2. He said, "We're BACK!!!! The Rainmaker has started filming Season 2! See you soon on @usanetwork!!!" The actor included a carousel of over a dozen photos from the set with different cast members.

Before The Rainmaker, Byrne had appeared in Horrible Bosses, The Wolf of Wall Street, Bombshell, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, A Complete Unknown, The Game, The Legend of Korra, Big Little Lies and Never Have I Ever, among several other movies and TV shows.
His current series, The Rainmaker, is adapting John Grisham's novel from 1995 for the small screen after first being turned into a movie starring Matt Damon, Danny DeVito, Claire Danes, Jon Voight, Mary Kay Place, Dean Stockwell, Teresa Wright, Virginia Madsen, Mickey Rourke, Andrew Shue, Red West, Johnny Whitworth, Roy Scheider, Randy Travis and Danny Glover.
The film went on to gross $45.9 million after its November 1997 theatrical release and is Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a critic score of 82% and an audience score of 78%. During awards season, Voight earned a Golden Globe nomination, while Glover received a nod at the NAACP Image Awards.
Almost three decades later, Blumhouse and Lionsgate developed The Rainmaker as a TV series on USA with cast members Byrne, Milo Callaghan, Lana Parrilla, Madison Iseman, Dan Fogler, Wade Briggs, Robyn Cara and John Slattery. Joining the cast for season 2 are Merle Dandridge as attorney Amanda Vonn and Austin Nichols as Jocelyn "Bruiser" Stone's ex-husband.
Similar to the book and film, USA's Rainmaker adaptation centers on a new lawyer named Rudy Baylor. After being fired from one law firm, he gets hired at J. Lyman Stone and Associates and represents a client in a wrongful death suit. As the case goes to trial, Rudy realizes the firm he was fired from is representing the hospital.
The Rainmaker season 1 ended with Rudy's triumphant win, as his client secured $82 million worth of damages from the hospital.
After the film received an 82% on Rotten Tomatoes, the TV adaptation of The Rainmaker has gotten a mixed reception from critics with a 58% score. Audiences, however, have been much more receptive and gave the series an 84%.
The Rainmaker is the latest in a line of legal dramas that USA has aired over the years, including Suits, Pearson, Fairly Legal and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. The second season of the Michael Seitzman and Jason Richman-created series does not have a premiere date yet, but it's expected to return sometime in fall 2026.
