PlayStation Drops 2 Completely Free Games You Don't Need PS Plus For

It's a decent year to be a PlayStation fan. Price hikes for PlayStation Plus aside, the Game Catalog can now contend with similar services, and exclusives pop up every so often that take the community by surprise. The PS5, in particular, is gaining a lot of stock this year as Sony is doing away with PC exclusives.

There are also more exclusives coming later this year, and we may learn more about Sony's future plans at the State of Play in June. Things are lining up for a pretty big summer, fall, and holiday season for PlayStation, but there are a few things to attend to this week before that happens.

Over on PSN, you can grab two free downloads now, one of which will work on PS4, while the other is a PS5 exclusive. You also won't need PlayStation Plus to claim them.

This week on the PSN, you can grab two downloads. The first is Bag Fight, which is free to download, with a deluxe edition available for $25.19 (currently on sale).

It's a deckbuilding roguelite that has a weird premise: "Build a backpack full of weapons, armor, and healing items, carefully arranging your gear to create a setup that can carry you through battle after battle. Unlock new gear, strengthen your build, and discover better ways to use your limited space as you progress. Merge weapons to create stronger versions, fine-tune your loadout, and adapt your backpack for every challenge ahead."

The real highlight this week is easily Shujinkou Manga Reader. It's a free app that you can grab now, and essentially works just how it says on the tin: it's a manga reader for the Shunjinkou series.

Here's exactly what you get: "This app includes a One Shot manga that explores a mission connected to the events of the game and what happens after the battle. Shu, Jin, Kou, Shirouto, and Toushirou investigate the ruined temple Moku Jinja after reports of gruesome murders, taking them through labyrinth exploration, fierce combat, Kanakae Orbs, and more. The second half of the One Shot showcases the daily lives, humor, friendships, and wider cast of Shujinkou through a fun beach party."

"More manga stories and chapters are planned" throughout 2026, and "major educational-oriented features" are coming in a future update.

If you have PlayStation Plus, there are quite a few games available to try out now that the Game Catalog has grown to gargantuan proportions. Even this time last year, the PSN didn't have nearly as much variety available, which is a testament to how much it's bulked up since then. As 2026 rages on, PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass will continue to duke it out.
