Nine original cast members of Broadway hit musical The Outsiders will leave the show in March, producers have announced.
The Tony-winning musical began previews at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on March 16, 2024, opening April 11 that year.
Playing final performances in March (replacements haven’t been announced) are Tilly Evans-Krueger (Ace) on Sunday, March 8; the previously announced Sky Lakota-Lynch (Johnny Cade), Sunday, March 15; and, on Sunday, March 15, Trevor Wayne (Broadway debut as a swing and currently plays Ponyboy Curtis), Brent Comer (Darrel Curtis), Jason Schmidt (Sodapop Curtis), Kevin William Paul (Bob), Renni Anthony Magee (Steve), SarahGrace Mariani (Marcia), and Melody Rose (Beverly).
Alex Joseph Grayson, who joined the cast in February 2025 as Dallas Winston, also departs March 15. The Tony-nominated Brody Grant, who originated the role of Ponyboy Curtis, played his final performance on September 21, 2025.
Adapted from S.E. Hinton’s novel and Francis Ford Coppola’s film, the musical features a book by Adam Rapp with Justin Levine, music and lyrics by Jamestown Revival and Justin Levine, choreography by Rick Kuperman & Jeff Kuperman and direction by Danya Taymor.
The synopsis: “In Tulsa, Oklahoma, 1967, Ponyboy Curtis, his best friend Johnny Cade and their Greaser family of outsiders battle with their affluent rivals, the Socs…The Outsiders is a story of friendship, family, belonging… and the realization that there is still ‘lots of good in the world.'”
The Outsiders on Broadway is produced by The Araca Group, American Zoetrope, Olympus Theatricals, Sue Gilad & Larry Rogowsky and Angelina Jolie.
