After a long eight-year run, the Nintendo Switch is finally getting its successor. Nintendo showcased the Nintendo Switch 2 early  morning in its April 2 Nintendo Direct in which we got a 60-minute close look at the console and upcoming software. We also got its release date which is a real close June 5, 2025. If past console launches are anything to go by, it’s going to be difficult to get one’s hands on the newest Nintendo console right away. In the time you’re waiting for your opportunity to pick up the Switch 2, why not dust off that Switch 1 of yours and play some great games you may have missed? Woot is having a Spring Video Game Sale with tons of great deals on games and accessories. The weather is warming up, but we don’t care. It’s time to play inside.

Nintendo Switch OLED

Even though the Switch first launched back in 2017, we have seen new hardware from Nintendo much more recently. The Nintendo Switch OLED released back in 2021 halfway through this console cycle to introduce some great upgrades to the base model. Most notable of which is the OLED screen. This vivid 7″ display looks absolutely beautiful when playing in handheld—especially when running Metroid Dread which launched alongside it. Not even the Switch 2 has an OLED screen. It’s going to be rocking an LCD with HDR, which is good but not great next to an OLED. It’s an interesting cost-saving choice on Nintendo’s part to take a step back in that regard.

However, if you’ve missed out on the Switch generation, you can grab yourself a refurbished model of the Switch OLED for the reduced price of $250. Then go play a ton of great games. Like which you ask?

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD

Throughout much of the Switch generation, Nintendo has ported over some of its best Wii U games as that console didn’t sell well but the Switch knocked projections out the park. The most recent port to come over actually is from way back on the Wii and that’s Donkey Kong Country Returns HD. This side-scrolling masterpiece was a return to form for the Kong’s as DK and Diddy team up once more to blast through barrels and ride rockets in 80 levels across nine worlds. Right now you can get the game for the reduced price of just $42.

These are just a couple items on sale right now over Woot right now for the Spring Video Game Sale, but there are about 250 different games, consoles, and accessories on sale right now. Tons of first party Nintendo Switch games are available like Fire Emblem: Engage, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Super Mario Odyssey, Luigi’s Mansion 3, and more going for between $40 and $45.
