The Night Agent Season 3 is enjoying a nice audience boost in its first full week on Netflix. The new episodes tallied 9.9M views from February 23 to March 1, putting it back at the No. 2 spot on the weekly English TV rankings.
That’s some solid growth for the third season, which initially lost quite a bit of its Season 2 audience in its opening weekend. If the series can continue this momentum and put up a few more weeks of consistently solid viewership, it bodes well for its chances of renewal. Also, the first two seasons had a presence on the list this week, which also indicates that the series might see some sustained interest in the coming weeks.
Season 1 came in at No. 5 with 2.9M views, while Season 2 drove 2.7M views for the No. 8 spot.
First place in TV went to Bridgerton Season 4, which concluded last week with the final four episodes of Benedict (Luke Newton) and Sophie’s (Yerin Ha) love story. The episodes helped the fourth season generate 28M views over this interval, which is exactly what the second half of Season 3 got in its opening weekend as well. Just like last time as well, this is a much smaller number than what Season 4A put up in its first four days or so — but there’s a good reason why.
Netflix’s methodology for split seasons is quite complex, making apples-to-apples comparisons between the performance for the first and second part of each season’s release difficult. The streamer calculates views as hours viewed divided by runtime, so when the first batch of episodes releases, the views are determined using just the runtime of the first half. When more episodes are available, the runtime goes up as well, meaning that even if the second half of the series put up the same number of viewing hours as the first, the calculation would result in a lower “view” count.
Bridgerton Season 4 will likely land on the Netflix Most Popular list sometime soon, but it’s anyone’s guess when that might happen. It’ll need to beat out Season 1 of The Night Agent‘s 98M views for tenth place.
Once again, the process is complicated for split seasons. Netflix allows a 91-day premiere window to count viewing for the Most Popular list, and each batch of episodes gets their own interval. For Bridgerton, that means Part 1 viewing will be counted from January 29 through April 29 and Part 2 will be measured from February 23 through May 24.
Unscripted TV took the next two spots on last week’s rankings. Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model strutted to No. 3 with 3.8M views, while Love Is Blind: Ohio took No. 4 with 3.1M views.
It was a sleepy week in English film, as Jurassic World Rebirth took No. 1 with just 5.6M views. Continuing its unprecedented streak, Kpop Demon Hunters landed in second place with 5M views, coming off of the BRIT Awards performance from Audrey Nuna, Rei Ami, and EJAE. On the non-English film list, the Spanish mystery thriller Firebreak came out on top with 13.2M views.
