The Morning Show host Kylie Gillies has revealed a terrifying childbirth ordeal that left her needing an emergency blood transfusion.
The veteran Seven presenter shared the deeply personal story in an emotional video on Instagram as she urged Australians to consider donating blood.
'This is something deeply personal to me. A blood donation saved my life,' she began.
'It was 2004, I was giving birth to my second son, Archie, and it was a difficult birth.'
Kylie said her newborn son had safely been placed on her chest when she quickly realised something was seriously wrong inside the birthing suite.

'After he was safely, you know, put on my chest, things went downhill,' she continued.
'I could tell by the state of panic in the birthing suite that something was going wrong.'
The television star said she could feel her condition deteriorating as her blood pressure began to plummet.
'I could feel my blood pressure dropping and, uh, I needed a blood transfusion, and I needed a lot of blood,' she said.
Kylie admitted she had never imagined she would one day find herself relying on donated blood to survive.
'You never know when you're gonna need blood. I certainly never in a million years thought that I would have to receive a blood transfusion,' she explained.
'But thank goodness for the blood donors who helped save my life.'
She then used her frightening experience to highlight the importance of blood donations across the country.
Kylie recalled giving birth to her second son, Archie, in 2004 when what should have been one of the happiest moments of her life suddenly took a frightening turn
'Australia needs a new blood donation every 18 seconds. There are a lot of people that rely on blood donors,' Kylie said.
'If you're considering giving blood, think about the difference that you could make to somebody's life. What an incredible gift to give.'
Kylie also reflected on her ordeal in the caption accompanying the video.
'I'm sharing this personal story, in the hope it may help others,' she wrote.
Her candid admission prompted an outpouring of support from famous friends and followers.
Former Seven presenter Melissa Doyle praised Kylie for speaking publicly about the frightening experience.
'Such an important message. Kudos to you girlfriend for sharing,' she wrote alongside a red heart emoji.
Television presenter Sally Obermeder was similarly moved by the admission.
'Oh Kyles,' she wrote alongside a string of heart emojis.
'This is such an important message,' she added with a teary-eyed emoji.
Kylie shares two sons, Gus and Archie, with her husband Tony Gillies.
