Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for Daredevil: Born Again season 2, episode 5.Daredevil: Born Again season 2 continues with one of the biggest episodes any Marvel Cinematic Universe show has had, and it confirms the death of a key character. Deaths are not a new concept in comic book adaptations, let alone MCU TV shows. There have been several deaths both in Disney+'s Marvel series and Netflix's The Defenders Saga.
Charlie Cox's Daredevil, in particular, is a character who has had to deal with plenty of deaths. Across the three seasons of Netflix's Daredevil, Matt Murdock lost people close to him, like his dad, Elektra, Stick, and more. The Daredevil show itself was one of Marvel's most deadly, with characters like Kingpin, the Punisher, and Bullseye leaving a trail of dead bodies.
In Daredevil: Born Again, that did not change. In fact, season 1 of the Disney+ series featured the biggest death across both shows, as Wilson Bethel's Bullseye killed none other than Elden Henson's Foggy Nelson. As he fought the villain, Daredevil had to listen as his best friend's heart stopped beating, which was a gut-wrenching moment. Now, season 2 claims another victim.
In Daredevil: Born Again season 2, episode 4, we ended with Ayelet Zurer's Vanessa Fisk being hit on the side of her head by a shard of glass after Bullseye crashed Kingpin's boxing match. While it seemed like she was dead, Vanessa got to wake up in episode 5 and talk to her husband. However, the MCU series did not stop there.
The MCU Has Confirmed A Major Netflix Character Death
By the end of episode 5, Vanessa goes into shock and dies for good, with Wilson Fisk not being able to do anything to save her. The moment ends up being quite emotional, as Daredevil: Born Again season 2 allowed Vanessa to wake up and have one last conversation with Fisk before dying.
As a whole, episode 5 is quite emotional, as it is mostly focused on flashbacks to the time of the Netflix Daredevil series. Both Foggy and Vanessa were killed by Bullseye in the new show, and seeing them have memorable moments in the flashbacks to the original series creates a poignant narrative. Daredevil: Born Again starts a new era with both gone.
How Vanessa's Death Should Impact The Rest Of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2?
While Fisk has political goals, nothing in his life comes close to how much Vanessa mattered to him. With her death, Kingpin should be about to become a true menace in Daredevil: Born Again season 2. After all, he does not have anything to lose now. That could spell doom for characters in Matt Murdock's team, so Daredevil: Born Again season 2's deaths might not have ended yet.
