Warning: This article contains spoilers for The Mandalorian and Grogu.

As such, the decision to release The Mandalorian and Grogu makes a lot of sense, and allows the franchise to build forward via a duo who've already become figures its audience want to see in more major adventures. Interestingly, while there are a lot of different directions The Mandalorian & Grogu could have gone in, the film's final story is very in line with one audience hope for the franchise that first emerged in its earliest days.

Though The Mandalorian and Grogu does so with different characters to the team these initial dreams were about, it still shows the potential of this concept, and in doing so provides a movie story that is able to do a lot in its runtime, while also ensuring audiences leave the cinema even more endeared with the titular leads and their enduring bond.

While the story of The Mandalorian & Grogu does delve into territory that's unique to these characters - namely in terms of Din Djarin's Mandalorian code of conduct, and Grogu's Force powers - it's interesting to note that the core concept of the movie revolves around ideas that have been the dream of many fans when it comes to what a movie centered around Han Solo and Chewbacca would look like.

This has been a concept that's existed since their debuts back in 1977's Star Wars, and which Solo: A Star Wars Story wasn't able to fully delve into quite the way that was imagined, given it was focused around being an origin story rather than a film that was able to dive into the shenanigans a more established version of the pair would be involved with.

The Mandalorian and Grogu sees its titular duo - comprised of one quick-thinking and combat-ready human, and one beloved alien entity who is generally only understood by their human ally - fighting for the enemies of the Empire (here the Galactic Republic) and going on covert missions in order to ensure the galaxy's best future is ensured.

The core story of the movie revolving around the duo's interactions with the Hutt family and the galaxy's underworld feels particularly in line with the kind of story a movie around a fully established Han Solo and Chewbacca could have been like - particularly given the ending of The Mandalorian and Grogu sees Din Djarin and Grogu face off against the Hutt twins' forces in what initially appears to be a mission with impossible odds against them.

The Mandalorian & Grogu Is The Perfect Movie To Combine All The Franchise's Major Stories

The Mandalorian and Grogu is interesting when looked at as the kind of heist-slash-buddy-space-cop adventure movie that people craved for years for Star Wars thanks to Han Solo and Chewbacca's debut and dynamic, but it's also far more than that - and a key factor in how it fares will no doubt be how well it manages to appeal to viewers on several different levels when it comes to its narrative.

While The Mandalorian and Grogu largely eschews focusing on the Jedi other than providing some nifty uses of Grogu's Force abilities, it does delve into a similar relationship between Jedi master and apprentice between Din and his adopted kin Grogu, since the Mandalorian is shown to still be teaching his charge about the galaxy and how to operate within it, and Grogu is still surprising Din all this time later with his powers and his infinite loyalty for the man who saved his life and chose him above all else.

The fact The Mandalorian and Grogu is able to balance all this alongside being an action sci-fi movie with plenty of doses of comedy and a notable look at the intergalactic drama that is unfolding in the present day of the timeline is perhaps its most impressive trait, and one that could well allow the film to rise to considerable heights in the coming weeks and months.
