Just last month saw the beloved The Legend of Zelda franchise celebrate its 40th anniversary with the first entry, aptly named The Legend of Zelda, first released by Nintendo all the way back in 1986. It is hard to believe that it was four decades ago that we were first introduced to a series that would go on to revolutionize the gaming sphere. However, to celebrate, fans can get their hands on this stunning piece of memorabilia courtesy of a collaboration between video game music label GameChops and The Sixth Station Trio.

The Legend Of Zelda Twilight Princess Link And Midna

Courtesy of this exciting collaboration, fans can hear some of the most beloved The Legend of Zelda anthems in one stunning package. Consisting of 16 tracks, some of the game's classical hits come together on this remix album and are performed on the piano, cello, and violin. According to GameChops itself, “each reinterpretation leans into emotion and storytelling. “The Sixth Station Trio’s sound evokes classical recital halls and film scores alike; balancing softness and power while allowing each melody room to breathe.”

Piano, cello, and violin carry each theme with emotional clarity and warmth; sometimes whimsical and joyful, sometimes dark and driven, sometimes reflective and quietly powerful. From the nostalgic lift of Breath of the Wild to the romantic swell of Rito Village and the dreamlike calm of Zelda’s Lullaby, each arrangement transforms familiar melodies into intimate, cinematic performances that feel timeless and deeply personal.

With the vinyl version of Zelda Classics expected to be shipped this October if you pre-order now, the album is now available to stream courtesy of Spotify.

The Legend Of Zelda's Music Is Iconic

Regardless of your thoughts on The Legend of Zelda franchise, there is no denying that its music is iconic, and getting to hear it performed so beautifully is an experience that we should all share. According to The Sixth Station Trio’s pianist Katelyn Tan, “’Zelda Classics’ is our way of bridging our passion for video game music with our passion for classical music. “We want to encourage more people to get into classical music, and we hope blending chamber music with video game music allows listeners to hear their favorite tunes done in a classical style and seek out more.”

In an official video shared by GameChops and the Sixth Station Trio, you can see the performances in the flesh courtesy of a live performance of some of the tracks which feature on the album. “We carefully crafted each arrangement so that there were musical elements that stayed true to the original pieces, but also included aspects that were influenced by our classical backgrounds and training,” Tan continued.

If you are a Legend of Zelda fan, or want to gift somebody who is, there will be no better present than Zelda Classics, which combines the magic of a series that has been capturing our hearts for 40 years with the captivating sound of a live orchestra.
