One of The Last House's stars reveals whether a sequel is on the way after the movie's shocking ending.

The Last House is Netflix's new science fiction film that follows a family trapped inside their own home with no way to escape. As they begin to run out of supplies, they are forced to confront the mysterious presence that is holding them captive. The movie stars Wagner Moura, Greta Lee, Riley Chung, Emma Ho, Noah Alexander Sosnowski, and Gabriel Barbos.

Moura, who portrays Jason Delgado in The Last House, has addressed the possibility of returning for a sequel following the Netflix movie's surprising ending. While there is currently no confirmation that the streamer will move forward with The Last House 2, the actor is open to seeing the story continue after the first film leaves audiences with questions about what could happen next.

In an interview with ScreenRant's Liam Crowley, Moura was asked about both Jason's crucial decision during the climax of the film and whether the ending could eventually lead to another installment. The actor explained that he believes Jason makes the right choice when he is forced to encounter the mysterious being that has been looming over them throughout the story. Although killing it would have been a viable option, Jason ultimately chooses to spare its life.

Moura stated that he believes his character made the right decision. He further elaborated and said the choice was influenced by Jason's relationship with his daughter Ruth and can be seen as a major stepping stone for their relationship. She spends a lot of time in the movie trying to warn him about the consequences of his actions and insisting that he changes his ways. Meanwhile, Jason repeatedly fails to take what she says seriously.

Moura explained how Ruth's instincts were correct. His decision during the confrontation with the creature represents an important change for his character, as he finally listens to what she has been telling him over protecting his ego. And, the creature eventually lets them leave, which proves that killing it would have been pointless.

His daughter is always telling him something, and he doesn't listen to her. The entire film, she's saying something, and he responds just with this sort of arrogance that adults have towards their children. And I was like, "Man, we really have to listen to everybody, but especially to our kids." What she said since the beginning was right. She was right. And the decision, therefore, I think the decision was, of course, first of all, he's not killing anyone. And secondly, he listened to her.

However, The Last House saves one final revelation for its very last moments. While traveling by boat, the family sends out a distress call over the radio in an attempt to determine whether anyone else has survived. After making contact, they hear an unidentified person respond to them by saying "hello," confirming that they are not the only ones who made it through.

The final twist naturally raises the possibility of The Last House 2, particularly because the identity and circumstances of the person answering remain a mystery. However, Moura stated that he isn't sure if there will be a sequel to the Netflix science fiction thriller. But despite there being no confirmation of a second installment, the actor is hopeful and willing to reprise his role if the opportunity arises.

The Last House is available to stream on Netflix now.
