Rumours that Kyle Sandilands plans to buy ARN after being sacked are gaining traction.

After the shock jock's former boss Craig Bruce first made the claim that Sandilands has his eye on purchasing the radio network last week, industry sources now say that it's increasingly becoming a possibility.

A source tells news.com.au that while buying up ARN in full would cost in the realm of $100 million, Sandilands could purchase a controlling stake for $51 million.

'The short answer is the network is already pretty cheap,' the source said.

'It just depends on the level of ownership that Kyle wants. You could become a majority shareholder for $51 million but I think he just wants to be a stakeholder,' they continued.

'He just wants to have a say on how it is run and he has been on radio for so long that he's very confident on how a radio station should be run or shouldn't be run.'

It would be a chunk of change, but possible, as Sandilands has built a business empire worth a reported $100 million.

Sandilands has spent years quietly building a business empire far beyond broadcasting.

In 2012 he entered the corporate world by launching an investment company called King Kyle, which he has previously claimed is now worth around $100 million.

The company's success is largely attributed to the diverse range of ventures it operates, spanning beverage brands such as H2Coco and Nueva Sangria, as well as television production – including the Luxe Listings Sydney series on Amazon Prime Video.

Away from the boardroom, the star also boasts an extensive personal property portfolio, including a $14 million mansion in Vaucluse and a $5.9 million estate in Glenorie.

He also owns a $1.8 million holiday home in Copacabana and a $1.3 million retreat in Port Douglas, as well as a home in Los Angeles.

Sandilands reportedly said he intends to buy up KIIS FM and the entirety of the Australian Radio Network, Sandilands' former boss Bruce claimed on Sunday.

Bruce, who was previously program director at 2DayFM during Kyle and Jackie's reign at the station, said in an Instagram post from his Game Changers Radio page that Sandilands made comments regarding a potential takeover of ARN during a recent taping of Australian Idol, where the radio star serves as a judge

'Update. Kyle Sandilands will be back on the air on Wednesday, if he's not sacked on Tuesday. And he reckons he's going to get sacked on Tuesday,' Bruce said.

'This is intel. I got a DM last night from a listener who was at the Idol auditions and so he said that to either a crowd of people or to a few people [that he] has a plan.

'If he's sacked on Tuesday, he's going to buy the network.'

Bruce added: 'He's either going to be on the radio on Wednesday... or he is sacked on Tuesday, that's according to Kyle Sandilands himself. The plot thickens.'

While it was unclear Sandilands made the comments in jest, there are increasing rumblings suggesting that he could well be serious.

'He is talking to companies and individuals. There is chatter,' the news.com.au source said.

The end of The Kyle and Jackie O Show was announced on Wednesday when Kyle released a statement at 7am on Wednesday announcing that KIIS' parent company, ARN, had terminated his 10-year, $100 million contract.

In an explosive statement obtained by Daily Mail on Wednesday morning, the 54-year-old admitted he doesn't 'accept' the fate of his role at the network.

He also confirmed the matter will now be in the hands of his lawyers.

'ARN has just announced they've terminated my contract,' he said. 'I don't accept it.'

Kyle continued: 'My lawyers told them last week this would be invalid. And guess what? It is.'

ARN announced last month that Jackie's $100 million contract had been terminated after she told executives she 'cannot continue to work with Mr Kyle Sandilands' following his harsh on–air comments that left her in tears.
