The Golden Globes has released its awards timetable, eligibility rules and campaign guidelines for the 84th annual Golden Globes taking place on Sunday, January 10, 2027. (No, it’s not too soon.)
Among the highlights are the organization’s guidance on AI usage, which states “the use of artificial intelligence (AI), including generative AI, does not automatically disqualify a work from consideration, provided that human creative direction, artistic judgment, and authorship remain primary throughout the production process.”
The rules add that “all submitted work will be evaluated based on the extent to which creative direction, artistic decision-making, and execution originate from credited individuals. AI and similar technologies may be used as part of the production process in the manner described [later in the document], but may not replace the core creative contributions of human talent.”
For performance awards, AI can be used to enhance or support a performance to a certain extent, but the performance must primarily be derived from the work of a credited performer. For non-performance categories, the rules say that AI can be used according to the group’s standards, but it must be clear that “the core creative contributions in the relevant craft (including but not limited to direction, writing, composition, and animation) originate primarily from credited human individuals.”
Notable elsewhere is the Golden Globes ceremony once again staking out the second weekend in January, with the 2027 Critics Choice Awards occupying the weekend that the Globes used to happen on.
The 2027 Golden Globes will once again be hosted by Golden Globe-, Grammy-, and Emmy-nominated comedian, writer, and actress Nikki Glaser, with the ceremony being broadcast live from the Beverly Hilton on Sunday, January 10, 2027 on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ in the U.S.
Nominations for the Golden Globes will be announced on Monday, December 7, 2026. The Awards timetable is outlined below, and complete rules and categories can be found on the organization’s website.
