The First Trailer for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 Is a Wild Trip

1 day ago 3

After what’s felt like eons of teasing and small clips at cons, Paramount has revealed our first decent look at Star Trek: Strange New Worlds‘ third season, and the Enterprise‘s journey is certainly getting very weird.

The new trailer immediately goes meta, detailing at least more than a few adventures where Strange New Worlds will take the crew of the Enterprise beyond the typical spacebound adventures and into some very meta territory–from murder mystery holoprograms, to a kitschy spin on the original Trek‘s ’60s production aesthetics. And that’s even before you get to Carol Kane’s Commander Pelia hooking up the whole ship to old-timey analogue phones!

We do still get some traditional looking Star Trek action, including a few shots of the crew’s continued showdown with the Gorn after the climax of season 2, as well as the young Scotty (played here by Martin Quinn) and his integration into the crew. Of course, we’re getting closer and closer to the version of this ship that suddenly no longer has Pike in the Captain’s chair, but well before we get there, it seems like Strange New Worlds is going to be committed to going to some very strange places.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds returns to Paramount+ this Summer.
