In over three years at Collider, senior author Jake has now penned over 2500 articles covering a wide range of TV and film for the resources, lists, utilities, news, and interview teams. Alongside interviewing stars such as Selin Hizli, Rose Ayling-Ellis, Harlan Coben, and Chelsea Peretti, Jake was lucky enough to visit the set of Aardman and Netflix's Wallace and Gromit: A Vengeance Most Fowl in 2024, getting the chance to chat with four-time Academy Award winner Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham. Jake has also worked for other publications, including Agents of Fandom

After three hugely successful seasons, Netflix's hit teen series Heartstopper will return for one final installment. However, this is no normal outing for Alice Oseman's young-adult series, with the final chapter of Nick (Kit Connor) and Charlie's (Joe Locke) romance coming in feature-length form. Last July, it was confirmed that the movie, titled Heartstopper Forever, had officially completed production, with Oseman discussing the challenges of changing from a series structure to a single movie, saying, "It’s something totally new and unknown, and yes, the runtime will be less than a TV season. Even I needed some time to process and come to terms with the change."

What lies in wait for Nick and Charlie is being kept quiet by those involved with the movie, with no plot synopsis yet revealed. However, with the final installment set to be based on the as-yet-unreleased last novel from Oseman, there lies the key to discovering more about Heartstopper Forever. The synopsis for the novel reads, "Everyone in school knows Nick and Charlie. Everyone knows they’re going to be together forever. But Charlie’s busy with his bid to become head boy. And while Nick is preparing to leave for uni, he’s starting to wonder who he’ll be… without Charlie." It sounds like trouble in paradise awaits our favorite young couple.

In a recent interview at the London Book Fair, fans of the franchise finally got an update on when Heartstopper Forever might be released. Although not a surprising answer, it will likely leave many disappointed. "It won’t be coming out before the book," Oseman firmly announced. "It was so important to me that the book comes out first, so people can experience the end of the story in the book. The series was the adaptation, not the other way around." The book in question is scheduled to be released on July 2, so perhaps a late-2026 release for the movie is likely.

The disappointing release date update from Oseman also came with some very exciting news. "We are literally days away from it being finished," Oseman confirmed, hinting that the film is likely to arrive sooner rather than later. "We are doing the final little bits of VFX and animation, and hopefully by the end of next week is going to be sent to be dubbed in various languages and quality-checked by Netflix, but my work on it will be done."

All three seasons of Heartstopper are available to stream on Netflix. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
