Chris Pratt's underrated show will soon be available to watch for free.
For the past decade or so, Pratt has become a well-known movie franchise star for everything from the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy to the Jurassic World sequels. He's also the voice for iconic characters such as Garfield and Mario. But before he became an action hero and even before his breakout role on Parks and Recreation, Pratt was a part of some classic teen dramas.
One of those teen dramas, Everwood, will be available to watch on Pluto TV as of June 1. The addition comes alongside the sitcom My Wife & Kids, the superhero drama Arrow, the long-running sci-fi The 100, and the Rachel Bilson-led romance drama series Heart of Dixie, which will arrive on May 1. All of these titles are available free and on demand, and as a linear channel, exclusive to Pluto TV.
These additions are deliberate, with research finding that 72% of Gen Z prefer shows that range from the 2000s to the 2010s. All of these shows fall within that category. In the case of Everwood, however, it served as a launching pad for many future stars. Created by Greg Berlanti, who would go on to be known for the Arrowverse, Everwood debuted in 2002 and ran for a total of four seasons and 89 episodes on The WB.
The story of Everwood begins with Dr. Andy Brown (played by the late Treat Williams) as he moves his family to the fictional small town of Everwood, Colorado, after the death of his wife. Pratt played Bright Abbott, appearing in all four seasons as the brother of the lead character Ephram Brown.
The family drama was focused on Ephram, who was played by Gregory Smith, though Pratt's character had his share of the spotlight. He's part of 80 episodes, wth a relatively early arc highlighting Bright stepping away from his friend group and choosing to be protective of his sister.
Bright and Ephram's sister was played by Emily VanCamp, a future MCU star. The teen drama likewise included a mix of actors that would go on to be well-known for other projects, such as Kristen Bell and Kate Mara, as well as veteran performers and established actors like Marcia Cross, Jane Krakowski, J.K. Simmons, and Betty White.
Pratt's other notable teen drama run might be his short recurring stint on The O.C., a more comedic portrayal with Adam Brody that presaged his work on Parks and Rec. In comparison, Everwood is a relatively heavier family drama that is more of a hidden gem compared to the cultural staying power of The O.C.
