The 'Double Bay Double-D Club': Insiders reveal who in Sydney's elite is ditching 'invisible' boob jobs for the Pamela Anderson look - and the doctor driving the trend

The era of the invisible boob job has had its day - at least in Sydney's east. 

For years, the Emerald City's coastal elite have favoured subtle breast augmentations designed to look so natural that friends would be left wondering whether they had simply discovered a better push-up bra.

But the pendulum is swinging back, with a new generation of patients embracing a more pronounced look reminiscent of Pamela Anderson's iconic Baywatch era.

Known by society snarks as the 'Double Bay Double-D', these breasts are typified by their fuller volume (referred to in the industry as a 'high profile' placement), rounded silhouette, prominent cleavage and an unmistakably enhanced appearance that leaves little doubt a surgeon has been involved.

Double Bay's Dr Louis Wessels has found himself at the centre of the trend, with the specialist breast surgeon becoming a popular choice for high-profile implants. 

Dr Wessels, who works out of Transvaal Avenue surgery One Cosmetic, is credited as the surgeon behind a number of high-profile socialites' eye-popping cleavages. 

His most well-known clients include TikTok personality Elle Salagaras, Bachelor star Monique Morley and Love Island's Jessie Wynter, all of whom have publicly credited the doctor for their larger-than-life bustlines.

Instagram models Emily Webb, Melissa Stingley and a user known as 'It's Hols' have also received Pammy-inspired breast enlargements courtesy of Dr Wessels. 

In March, Salagaras revealed she had checked into East Sydney Private Hospital for her augmentation with Dr Wessels after teasing the procedure on Instagram.

The mother of three had previously shared a photo from her consultation, holding up a silicone implant alongside the caption: 'Nothing beats new boobs.'

She opted for 350cc implants, giving her a supersized new cleavage that dwarfs her petite frame.

Morley, who notably underwent a rib contouring procedure in Bali, once revealed she splashed out a cool $15,000 on her breast enlargement.

She has since praised Dr Wessels for his work, tagging the doctor's Instagram handle on photos of her posing in a bikini.

Wynter has also publicly praised Dr Wessels since her procedure in January 2019. 

Posting to Instagram at the time, Wynter explained that while she already had a larger bust, she chose to have corrective surgery after experiencing a collapsed chest, which caused her breasts to sit towards her underarms and resulted in discomfort and a lack of confidence.

She praised Dr Wessels and the One Cosmetic team for their support throughout the process, saying they provided extensive communication before and after the procedure and ensured that she understood the expected outcome.

Wynter also addressed the controversy surrounding breast augmentation, emphasising that it was a personal decision and encouraging anyone considering surgery to thoroughly research their options. 

She also urged her fans to choose a qualified surgeon and understand that augmentation is a major procedure with lifelong considerations.

These women's decisions to publicly document their procedures reflects a broader change in attitudes towards cosmetic surgery, with a growing number openly sharing consultations, recoveries and results rather than keeping enhancements private.

'The subtle boob job had a very long run, but let's be honest - nobody was paying thousands of dollars to look exactly the same. The new generation wants people to notice,' a society insider told the Daily Mail. 

Another insider added: 'The Pammy Anderson look has come full circle. Let's hope these girls don't end up with sore backs from all that silicone.' 

Indeed, larger implants can place additional strain on breast tissue and skin, increasing the risk of issues including implant movement, stretching, discomfort and the need for revision surgery over time.
