It's time to stop waiting for Rockstar to release an official Bully sequel, and embrace the spiritual successor that's scheduled to come out this year. The 2006 release has become a cult classic for a reason, becoming emblematic of Rockstar's irreverent tone and brilliantly interactive storytelling.
Now, Bully fans have taken up the mantle, with Refugium Games, developers of Greyhill Incident and Vacant's Mine, have announced a Q2 2026 release date for Bully spiritual successor Agefield High: Rock the School. Much like Bully, Agefield High will include an in-depth simulation of high school life, encouraging players to cause as much trouble as possible without getting sent to detention.
Bully 2 May Never Happen
Rockstar Hasn't Announced Anything
Although the original Bully was fairly popular and has since become a cult classic, it's unclear whether we'll ever see an official sequel. Rumors of a Bully sequel or remake have frequently surfaced, but Rockstar hasn't unveiled any plans to continue the series, apart from a handful or re-releases.
In the meantime, Rockstar has arguably moved onto its bigger and more successful flagship properties: GTA and Red Dead, of course. Considering how much time and money it takes to make a Rockstar-level triple-A game nowadays, the chances of a Bully sequel are slim to none.
Bully hasn't been left behind fully; Rockstar does drop the occasional in-game reference or cosmetic, including, most recently, a line of Bully-themed clothes for GTA Online. But an official sequel anytime soon is clearly too much to ask for, which is why fans of the series have taken it upon themselves to create Agefield High as a successor.
Agefield High Is The Next Best Thing
A Spiritual Sequel In All But Name
Agefield High is almost everything we could ask for in a Bully successor. It'll grant you access to an open-world small town, where you'll take control of a high school senior ready to wreak havoc at his new school. Everything operates on a precise in-game schedule, which means most of your day is taken up by classes, unless you choose to cut and risk the consequences.
The world will respond dynamically to your options, with teachers or police chasing you down if you skip school. You can customize your character, take on part-time gigs to earn cash, or engage in a series of mini-games and side missions.
It may not be the official sequel we've always longed for, and I'm still curious to see what modern Rockstar's budget and resources could do with a full-fledged revival. But I'll take what I can get, and Agefield High certainly seems to scratch that rebellious high schooler itch. Until an official Bully sequel is actually announced (if it's ever announced), spiritual successors like this one will do just fine.
