After offering a brief teaser over a month ago, A24 has pulled back the curtain on director Brady Corbet‘s “The Brutalist,” sharing a full trailer for the award-winning historical epic after its impressive turn-out among the Golden Globe nominations Monday morning.
Along with a closer look at Adrien Brody‘s lead turn in the film, the new footage showcases Felicity Jones, Guy Pearce and Joe Alwyn’s performances. “The Brutalist” follows Jewish architect László Toth (Brody), who immigrates to the U.S. after World War II and finds his talents favored by the ambitious aristocrat Harrison Lee Van Buren (Pearce).
The new trailer follows Variety‘s exclusive report on the initial release plans for “The Brutalist.” Photographed in VistaVision, Corbet’s film will debut with a limited 70mm release in New York and Los Angeles on Dec. 19. A wide release will follow in January.
“The Brutalist” premiered at the Venice Film Festival, where Corbet won the Silver Lion for directing. The three-plus-hour drama (which includes a 15-minute intermission) continued to earn raves through the fall, playing at the Toronto International Film Festival and New York Film Festival. A24 acquired the feature in September.
On Monday, “The Brutalist” solidified itself as an awards frontrunner, nabbing Golden Globe nominations for best film drama, best lead actor drama for Brody, best supporting actress for Jones, best supporting actor for Pearce, original score, screenplay and director. Last week, the feature was voted the best film of the year by the New York Film Critics Circle, which also awarded Brody the prize for best lead actor.
