Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for The Boys season 5, episode 3, "Every One of You Sons of Bitches."

While it's unlikely that The Boys Presents: Diabolical will come back anytime soon, Gen V season 3 remains a possibility, but its status remains unknown. Fortunately, The Boys: Mexico will happen at some point, as it was given the green light several years ago, while Vought Rising has already wrapped filming, suggesting it will be the IP's next release.

The prequel is set to take place in the 1950s and explore the origins of Vought in a murder mystery setting, with Jensen Ackles set to reprise his role as Soldier Boy. Aya Cash is also expected to return, but rather than going by Stormfront as she does in The Boys, she'll be known as Liberty.

This alias has featured previously in the main series, and a scene from "Every One of You Sons of Bitches" hints at her having plenty of history with Soldier Boy. During a conversation with Homelander and Sister Sage, the latter mentioned that Stormfront was one of the few supes that had V-One in her blood, but Soldier Boy didn't recognize the name.

Sage went on to clarify, "I think you know her as Liberty", which prompted a strange, slightly uncomfortable look from the antagonist. It was a subtle detail that's easy to miss, yet it sets the stage perfectly for Vought Rising as we'll find out more about the duo's background, making this upcoming Prime Video show one you cannot miss.

Vought Rising Will Dig Into The Real Story Between Soldier Boy & Stormfront

Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy in The Boys.

Considering Soldier Boy and Stormfront have arguably been The Boys' two biggest antagonists other than Homelander, it's crazy to think we've never seen them interact on screen. Luckily, that will change in Vought Rising as the two are set to star alongside one another, where we'll learn the truth about their past.

They're among the franchise's oldest supes, with Soldier Boy being Vought's original poster boy, while Stormfront, AKA Liberty, was Fredrick Vought's wife, making it no surprise they crossed paths many decades ago. However, The Boys has provided very little insight about what their relationship was like, which is why Vought Rising will be so interesting.

Soldier Boy is a true American patriot, taking pride in serving his country, even if it means committing some truly awful acts. In contrast, Stormfront was a Nazi who was committed to fascist beliefs, suggesting the two should have been enemies. Instead, from the brief information we know about their past, they were actually allies and started Herogasm together.

Therefore, it'll be fascinating to see what else Vought Rising uncovers about their backstory, as their relationship was almost certainly sexual at one point, although it's unclear if Soldier Boy knew about her connection to Nazi Germany at that point.

Their dynamic clearly changed at one point though, as Soldier Boy's expression in The Boys' latest episode wasn't exactly one of joy. The spinoff should also dive into V-One a little bit more, as it's the only reason Soldier Boy avoided an early death in The Boys season 5, which also explains why neither he nor Stormfront aged throughout the series.

With so much history to unpack, Vought Rising looks like an absolute gem for fans of these characters, and given that The Boys season 5 has already begun teasing their story, it's clear the upcoming prequel will have plenty of layers to explore.

Vought Rising Must Be Careful With Handling Stormfront's Character

Stormfront was easily one of The Boys' best villains and a true highlight of season 2, but it's crucial that Vought Rising doesn't forget how sinister she actually is. While Soldier Boy is also a remorseless antagonist that shouldn't be retconned, the spinoff can at least explore what made him this way and give him some sympathetic traits.

The audience can feel some compassion for him, since he's a victim of Vought's corrupt system, while still hating the supe for all the terrible things he went on to do. However, The Boys' prequel needs to be much more careful with Stormfront, as even by the 1950s, she was a Nazi and white supremacist with no redeemable qualities.

Vought Rising is expected to arrive on Prime Video in 2027.

The last thing her character needs is to have had genuine good intentions or real feelings for Soldier Boy, only to end up how she did in The Boys. Sometimes, it makes sense for a villain to simply be evil, and considering Stormfront's heinous beliefs, there is no reason for her to be anything more than a twisted antagonist.

Just like The Boys should never redeem The Deep or Homelander, Vought Rising shouldn't try to make Stormfront relatable in any way. She may have had charisma and charm at times during The Boys, but her intentions were always bad, and that should be the same even as Liberty in Vought Rising, making it essential that the prequel gets her character right.
