The Block's Chantel and Wyatt stage a walk out just two weeks into the competition after explosive clash with host Scott Cam

The Block's Chantel and Wyatt were mysteriously absent from the Channel Nine reality TV show on Monday night, after threatening to walk out the day before.

During the shock episode, the pair were completely absent from the show's Mount Eliza set, after previously butting heads with host Scott Cam, 63. 

The reality TV couple have endured a rocky start to their The Block journey, first finding themselves at the centre of a cheating scandal before being dealt a brutal financial blow after their first room reveal.

And now, after just weeks on site, the pair appear to be seriously considering pulling the pin for good.

The trouble began during Sunday night's episode, in the lead-up to the season's first room reveal, when foreman Dan caught the couple breaking The Block's 'number one rule' by enlisting one of their tradies to help with painting.

As Dan reminded them, all painting must be completed by contestants only.

Chantel insisted the breach was an honest mistake made during their early days on the show, claiming their worker had only just started painting when he was caught.

But other contestants claimed they had heard the couple discussing their plan to have a tradie help with painting the night before, suggesting the rule breach may have been more deliberate.

The drama sparked not one but two tense body corporate meetings, with little real resolution and plenty of resentment seemingly lingering among the other teams.

Then came the first room reveal - and another blow.

Despite receiving a poor showing from the judges, Chantel and Wyatt appeared to laugh off the result, finishing in fourth place with a score of 20 out of 30.

But their smiles quickly disappeared when Cam delivered some even more brutal news.

For the first challenge, contestants had been asked to nominate a budget and demonstrate how well they could stick to it.

Although one team came within just six dollars of their target, Chantel and Wyatt had spectacularly blown their budget. 

The couple had nominated $8,966 but somehow managed to spend a staggering $20,700 - almost $12,000 over target.

Both appeared genuinely stunned by the result and insisted they had no idea how they had managed to rack up such a massive overspend.

And as they left judging, it appeared the financial disaster had pushed them to breaking point.

In their car, Chantel told Wyatt she was no longer sure she wanted to continue.

'I don't feel like I want to stay,' Chantel began.

'No, me either. I don't want to be here,' he responded.

'I think we should have a talk about what we want to do, because I don't want to be here either,' she added.

And Monday night's shock episode suggests the couple may actually follow through.

Chantel and Wyatt failed to turn up to the worksite and mysteriously disappeared from the share house where the contestants are living.

'At this very moment, there's nothing they could say that would make me stay,' Chantel previously said.

Wyatt was also shown going head-to-head with Scott Cam, with the visibly agitated contestant towering over the veteran host.

'We would hate for you guys to leave the show,' Cam told them.

Wyatt then hit back, accusing the show of portraying him in an unflattering light.

'I pride myself on integrity, I pride myself on being a good human. And you're making me look like a piece of s**t, Scotty,' Wyatt ranted.

If Chantel and Wyatt do quit, they would become the latest in a string of contestants to pull out of The Block in recent years.

In 2022, influencer Elle Ferguson and her fiancé, former AFL player Joel Patfull, left the show during the first week of filming after Patfull's mother suffered a nasty fall.

Then in 2024, WA couple Jesse and Paige quit five weeks into the competition after a series of heated on-camera fights led them to seek advice from the show's psychologist.
