Nowhere is this more apparent than the highly divisive reaction that The Acolyte inspired among viewers, with the show currently holding the franchise’s most contrasting critical and audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes.
Nonetheless, while some portions of the fandom may be tempted to celebrate The Acolyte’s cancellation, others still are actively mobilizing in an effort to rescue the show. At present, an online petition to renew The Acolyte for season 2 boasts 64,000 signatures accrued in less than two weeks. By comparison, the viral petition that helped to lead to the announcement of a Warrior Nun movie continuation following its own cancellation on Netflixattracted over 120,000 signatures.
