Terminator Officially Returns As A Brand-New Era Begins

When Arnold Schwarzenegger famously said "I'll be back" in 1984's The Terminator, it seemed as though he was not lying, as a brand-new Terminator-inspired video game has been announced by developer Nacon.

With six live-action movies under its belt, the Terminator franchise is one of the most iconic sci-fi sagas of all time, with the most recent entry, Terminator: Dark Fate, hitting cinemas back in 2019. However, there is no denying that the original entries were perhaps the most beloved, so it is no surprise that this upcoming action-adventure RPG takes inspiration from James Cameron's original project.

Although it does not yet have a release date, or even a release window for that matter, Terminator: Survivors has already captured fan's attention, with the official synopsis reading as follows:

Judgment Day has come. As the rare survivor of this catastrophic event, fight and help the Resistance rise from the ashes of civilization. But beware, Skynet's machines patrol relentlessly the surface and the legendary T-800 is on your trail.

As you explore an open-world inspired by the hit Terminator movie series, you will take on the role of a survivor following the aftermath of Judgment Day. "Four years have passed since the day humanity almost disappeared. The truth behind this apocalyptic event has yet to be uncovered. You emerge from a shelter to try and re-establish a semblance of society, only to discover a world ravaged by Skynet, who seem hell-bent on eliminating you and the last remnants of humanity."

As such, you will have to help the Resistance rise from the ashes as you fight the first Skynet prototypes and evade the legendary T-800 who is tracking your every step. To stay safe, you will have to keep moving, all whilst investigating the nuclear apocalypse as well as the Skynet and Terminator threat.

In order to stay true to the beloved franchise, Terminator: Survivors will see you meet some of the movie's most iconic characters, as well as some originals, as you navigate a world inspired by Cameron's post-apocalyptic future.

Fight formidable sophisticated machines and stop skynet from eradicating humanity again, but never forget: The fearsome and deadly Terminator is out there, hunting you, and a constant threat.

With Skynet’s machines and scavengers lurking around every corner, you will have to establish a homebase and pick your weapons carefully. Whilst some fights will need you to go out all guns blazing, others might see stealth prevail. However, as you maintain a new foothold for humanity, will you have what it takes to withstand against the threat of ever-evolving machines?

As mentioned, Terminator: Survivors is still in the early stages of development, and so a release date is currently unknown. However, there is no denying that this will make the perfect action RPG for any Terminator fan out there, or those looking for an epic post-apocalyptic open-world title to get stuck into.
