Taylor Sheridan's new, 13-part Western TV series has finally dethroned its biggest Paramount competition.

Sheridan's ongoing Western show has finally captured the Number 1 streaming spot worldwide, an impressive feat that it's slowly but surely managed to achieve. Sheridan's many TV shows have become staples of Paramount+, from the espionage thrills of Lioness to the grounded, family-focused stories of Landman and The Madison.

However, what he's best known for is the Yellowstone franchise, which has, over the course of eight years, spawned numerous spinoffs in the form of both prequels and sequels. The overarching story is about various generations of the Dutton family, the owners of the titular Yellowstone Ranch, and their histories. But one show that changed the game has finally gotten the success it's been vying for.

How Marshals Slowly Became Paramount+'s Number 1 Show

That series is Marshals, a spinoff following Kayce Dutton after the end of Yellowstone. Following the Ranch going back to the Broken Rock Tribe, Kayce is faced with the tragic death of his wife, Monica. He later joins a group of US Marshals, taking various cases across Montana to protect people and stop major crimes from happening.

Although the series premiered on March 1, 2026 on CBS, its next-day traction on Paramount+ hasn't netted it the top spot. That is until now, with FlixPatrol reporting that Marshals has become the Number 1 TV show worldwide on the streaming platform. According to data from April 7, 2026, the show has dethroned the long-standing South Park from Number 1.

The series now stands at the top of Paramount+'s charts, also becoming Number 1 in 11 countries worldwide: Argentina, Canada, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and Salvador. This success arrives despite reviews for Marshals being mixed, the series currently sporting a 42% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Although the show took some time to knock South Park off its throne, the series has, over the span of its weekly Sunday night episode releases, made a name for itself on Paramount+. It was already sitting in the Top 10 prior to its current placement. However, this latest achievement cements it as a strong installment within the Yellowstone universe.

Marshals Is A Glimpse Into Yellowstone's Future

Marshals season 1 is just the start of how the Yellowstone franchise is set to evolve after the end of the original series. Marshals season 2 has already been confirmed by CBS, with the series expected to have an increased episode count from the 13 planned in season 1. It confirms a major, multi-season expansion for the franchise to network TV as its story continues.

But it's not the only big series to come out of the original show. Paramount+'s Dutton Ranch is set to launch with its first two episodes on May 15, 2026, following Beth and Rip buying a new ranch for a fresh start. This expansion is set to continue further with other shows, including planned prequel 1944 and spinoff series 6666.

The success of Marshals is a good sign for Sheridan's Western universe, especially since he'll be departing from Paramount by the end of 2028. It's unclear if the franchise will outlive his time with the network, but the success of the latest sequel show indicates a strong future ahead, especially if it can keep up its newly acquired momentum.
