With Mayor of Kingstown poised to end after another season, Lioness still awaiting a third, and his fate currently resting on a handful of unknown quantities, Taylor Sheridan essentially has one blockbuster left to rely on. He's putting together spin-offs to Yellowstone and Tulsa King that should probably be just fine, but the one silver bullet in his back pocket is the hit show Landman. Despite controversies and an uneven reception from audiences, the show has proven to be a solid hit for both the super-producer and Paramount+. It has already been renewed for a third season. But with Sheridan's relationship with Paramount having soured to the point of his departure — he will begin a collaboration with NBCUniversal in 2029 — it remains to be seen whether he's already working on an endgame for Landman. For now, he can celebrate a new achievement that puts Landman in the same category as his other hit shows for Paramount.

Starring Billy Bob Thornton and Ali Larter, the show premiered in 2024 to generally positive reviews but received some criticism for its portrayal of renewable energy and depiction of female characters. Landman's first season holds a disappointing 66% audience score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes; this score has since dropped to 46% for the second season, which is definitely not something that the otherwise beloved Sheridan is used to. For instance, his flagship series and the blueprint for Landman, Yellowstone, holds an overall 76% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite the mixed reception, however, Landman has passed a major streaming milestone.

Here's the Latest Milestone 'Landman' Has Passed

According to FlixPatrol, the show has spent more than 200 days on the domestic Paramount+ viewership charts. The show's second season premiered in November 2025 to slightly better reviews than the first. It holds an 83% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes, where the consensus reads, "Further refining its brutish elements into addictive drama, Landman's second season makes minor improvements in its treatment of female characters while continuing to benefit from Billy Bob Thornton's hangdog swagger." The new season also welcomed the legendary Sam Elliott to the cast; he played one of the lead roles in Sheridan's well-received Yellowstone prequel series 1883, which also featured Thornton in a cameo. You can watch Landman on Paramount+. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
